Sandy Alexander Updates Prepress Workflow with Large Artwork Systems Nexus Installation

Press release from the issuing company

Gent, Belgium – June 22, 2005 – Artwork Systems Group, a world leader in professional pre-press software, announces that Sandy Alexander, the largest independently-owned high-end commercial printing company in the U. S., has chosen Artwork Systems as its new workflow provider. Sandy Alexander selected Artwork Systems’ award-winning Nexus workflow system to fill their prepress workflow needs. Nexus is a comprehensive high-end workflow solution for commercial and packaging environments designed to increase productivity in pre-production through automation of labor-intensive prepress tasks. Nexus is a modular system built on three core modules: NexusIMPORTTM, NexusPROCESSORTM and NexusRIPTM, allowing users to configure the system for their own functionality, throughput, and performance needs. The Nexus configuration at Sandy Alexander drives a wide array of output devices, including two Creo Trendsetter CTP engines, three halftone dot proofers comprised of a Kodak Approval NX and two Fuji FinalProofs, and numerous inkjet proofers including the Iris 43 Wide and the Creo Veris proofer. In addition to the Nexus workflow, the installation at Sandy Alexander also includes WebWay, which provides a web-based preflight and job submission portal for their customers. Nexus is also integrated with Kodak’s Matchprint Virtual Proof system so Sandy Alexander’s customers can soft-proof and approve their job on a desktop monitor with full color accuracy. The combination of WebWay, Nexus, and Matchprint Virtual Proof provides a fully automated solution for Sandy Alexander and their most demanding customers that offers a tremendous savings in cycle time and productivity. “Artwork Systems’ flexible approach to workflow is evident in the Nexus system,” says Mike Graff, Sandy Alexander’s Executive Vice President. “This workflow has been custom-engineered to meet our specific needs and has integrated seamlessly with our existing tools for job ticketing, data management, and soft proofing. The workflow requirements to support our large web and sheetfed pressroom are extremely demanding, especially in the areas of screening and color management, but Artwork Systems has partnered with us to deliver exactly the system we needed. We believe their workflow offering is the best on the market.” Says Dennis Mehta, President and CEO of Artwork Systems Inc., “Sandy Alexander is nationally known and respected, not just for their size but for their high level of quality and customer focus, so we are honored to have Sandy Alexander choose Nexus for their demanding production workflow. Sandy Alexander is a first-class organization that will show Artwork Systems to its greatest advantage. We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with them as a workflow supplier.”
