EFI Enhances Industry-Leading Digital Design Proofing and Photography Printing Solutions
Press release from the issuing company
Foster City, Calif. — June 16, 2005 — EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, today announced significant enhancements to EFI Designer Edition, the outstanding proofing solution for the design market and EFI Photo Edition, the vanguard print, proof and color management software for digital photographers. Graphic artists, designers, professional printers and photographers will greatly benefit from improvements to the sophisticated proofing and photo management software solutions that turn desktop printers into powerful yet cost-effective digital proofing and printing systems. Based on EFI's Best technology, EFI Designer Edition and EFI Photo Edition are also now available in XXL versions to drive printers up to 60 inches wide.
Designer Edition and Photo Edition 4.2 further enhance EFI's popular digital proofing and photo solutions for the creative, prepress and production stage and photographers. Focused on easy, high-quality proofing and printing with minimal setup time, both products integrate several new key features, increasing efficiency by enabling printing of accurate proofs, and vivid, full color photographs.
"The new Designer Edition 4.2 immediately and significantly improved my productivity - workflow is simplified by the virtual printer functionality and the new Photo Print Mode, which eliminates the need for an additional solution to handle RGB data. Also, I've never seen a proofing solution render spot colors so accurately,” said Peter Friemelt, a successful freelance graphic designer based in Munich, Germany, and among the first users of the enhanced solution. “The backup/restore function for several sets of user settings makes my everyday work appreciably easier as well."
EFI Designer Edition and EFI Photo Edition, renowned for extraordinary ease of use, stability and output quality, can now also be deployed in the wide format printing area with the new XXL versions.
Enhancements to Designer Edition and Photo Edition 4.2 include:
- A variety of printing modes to choose from,
- Proof mode for Prepress
- Photo Print Mode for RGB Workflow
- Black and White mode for conversion from color;
- TIFF export for exchanging color managed data with customers and other applications;
- Free of charge with Designer Edition and Photo Edition 4.2 is the Ugra/ FOGRA Media strip. The Ugra/FOGRA Media strip can be used as a digital control aid to evaluate the effect of imaging in CMYK mode and other prepress work;
- Color management settings can be saved, streamlining workflow by eliminating repetitive input;
- The horizontal and vertical position of the job on the sheet can be specified for center or left/right alignment;
- A black point compensation feature improves shadow details in black, which further advances output quality.
"Every EFI solution is designed to deliver superior value to our customers. With the Designer Edition and Photo Edition enhancements, even the most demanding graphic artists, designers, professional printers and photographers will be better equipped for success, said Stefan Spiegel, senior product marketing manager, EFI. “EFI Designer Edition and EFI Photo Edition are robust yet cost-effective solutions, intended to optimize virtually any workflow.”
