Downers Grove, Illinois (04/27/05)- Jet is proud to announce they are a 2005 Sappi North American Printer of the Year Silver Award Winner. The Sappi Printer of the Year awards competition recognizes printer excellence and innovation for work done on Sappi coated papers. It is the only global honor of its kind to recognize excellence in printing craftsmanship and design. Our submission of “A6”, won a Silver in the “Printers Own Promotion” category. Embracing the art and design community, Jet sponsored the manufacturing of Anchor Graphics’ new book release titled, “A6”. Designed by Firebelly Design Co., “A6” showcases the fine art works of six women artists associated with Anchor Graphics. Anchor Graphics is a Chicago community-based nonprofit printshop and gallery that brings together, under professional guidance, a diverse community of young, emerging and established artists to advance the fine art of printmaking. “A6” was judged on the following criteria: overall impact of the piece; degree of difficulty in the printing technique; and technical excellence. A panel of judges, selected from recognized print institutions and trade professions, insured the highest possible standards and integrity. “These awards not only recognize the industry’s best work,” said Ronee Hagen, President and CEO of Sappi Fine Paper North America, “but they also give us an opportunity to stand back and appreciate how significantly print and design impact our daily lives.” Founded in 1947, today, Jet is one of the largest, privately held sheet-fed commercial printers in the Chicago area.
