Printing Industries Alliance Annual Meeting

Press release from the issuing company

April 16, 2008 --  Printing Industries Alliance (PIA) announced the scheduling of its 2008 Annual Meeting which is being held May 8-9, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel & Exhibition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey.  The PIA 2008 Annual Meeting features two programs.

On May 8, 2008 a networking reception and dinner program are being held starting at 6:00 p.m.  The dinner program features a presentation entitled, "Hot Topics for New Jersey Employers: New Jersey's New Mandated Paid Family Leave, and Federal "Card Check" Legislation" and is being presented by PIA counsel Nicholas Fiorenza.

Attendees will be brought up to date on the details of New Jersey's recently enacted paid family leave law.  Effective compliance strategies will be reviewed and key policy and practice points identified.

In addition, attendees will learn about what may turn out to be the most significant change in federal labor law in over 70 years.  The "Employee Free Choice Act" ,if enacted, will all but eliminate employee free choice in the selection – or rejection – of labor unions in the workplace.

Mr. Fiorenza's presentation will provide a graphic communications perspective on the issue and outline the basics of an effective human resources strategy for life after the "Employee Free Choice Act".

Mr. Fiorenza is managing partner of Ferrara, Fiorenza, Larrison, Barrett and Reitz, PC and counsel to Printing Industries Alliance.  In this capacity he works with member firms on a variety of Human Resource management issues.  Mr. Fiorenza is a graduate of SUNY Binghamton and the George Washington University National Law Center where he graduated with a concentration in labor relations and employment law.  A frequent speaker and writer for industry events and publications, Mr. Fiorenza writes a regular column for Printing Impressions entitled "Fiorenza on HR Management".

Cost to attend "Hot Topics for New Jersey Employers" is $40.00 for Printing Industries Alliance members and $70.00 for non-members and includes the networking reception, dinner and presentation.

"Web2Print Workshop" is scheduled for May 9, 2008.

On May 9, 2008 a morning workshop is being held on "Web2Print" and is being presented by Joe Marin, Senior Analyst for Digital Technologies at Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation.  This program will start with registration and continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 1:00 p.m.

This program will explore the various business models, tools, and technologies that make up the "web-to-print" landscape.  Mr. Marin will review Internet storefronts, VDP interfaces, brand management solutions, and print production portals.  In addition, there will be a discussion about what printers should be considering when deciding to offer a web-based interface to their clients.

Mr. Marin is the Senior Analyst for Digital Technologies for PIA/GATF.  In this capacity he specializes in up and coming digital technologies in print production workflow and conducts PIA/GATF training programs including "Executing a Web-to-Print Strategy" and "Orientation to the Graphic Arts".  He is author of Process Control Primer, Digital Prepress Primer, and co-author of The PDF Print Production Guide.
