Big D Bindery installs Muller Martini Corona perfect binder
Press release from the issuing company
Dallas, Texas – “ We are running jobs in as little as 4 hours that in the past would have taken up to 2 days to produce,” says John McGee, Plant Manager at Big D Bindery, Inc. This past December, Big D installed a Muller Martini Corona C12 perfect binder and already, Big D is predicting an enormous jump in productivity along with substantial increases in binding quality. “This will allow us to sell more binder time and increase our revenues,” continued Mr. McGee.
Big D Bindery is a full service trade bindery with 75 employees. The company, which has a growing roster of clients, provides a diverse range of binding services, including edition (hardcover perfect binding, sewn case binding ), lay-flat, PUR and EVA. Customers look to Big D for virtually all kinds of binding capabilities, from cased-in Wire-O to coil-locked spiral, plasticoil to automatic Wire-O.
Installation of the Muller Martini Corona perfect binder will enable Big D to expand its business opportunities among new customers while also better meeting the demands of its current clients. “We are aware of the needs of printers in the Southwest and our goals are to meet their needs with quality and timely deliveries. We are striving to make doing business with Big D Bindery easier,” said Joe White, Senior Account Executive.
“We chose the Corona C12 to be able to provide quality and gain 50% to 70% increases in productivity,” explained John McGee. The Corona C12 perfect binder replaced a decades-old Muller Martini Norm Binder. “We went with Muller Martini [again] for the quality, speed and efficiency of their finishing systems and also because of the fact that our other binders were also from Muller,” continued Mr. McGee.
“With the new ownership of Big D Bindery, Inc., the addition of the new Corona line is second only to the talent and ability of our staff,” added Mr. White.
The Muller Martini Corona perfect binding line is designed for both high-volume and short-run production of books, manuals, directories, magazines and catalogs. Utilizing its Commander Central Control System and menu-guided set-up, Corona provides computer-assisted motorized makeready in just 15 minutes. Furthermore, the gathering machine has Automatic Self-Adjusting Calipers (ASAC) that detect misfeeds, doubles and missing inserts electronically and instantly – reducing downtime, speeding production and saving product waste to help increase binding cost-efficiency and profitability.
The Corona perfect binding line (which includes the C12, C13, C15 and C18) is capable of speeds from 12,000 c/hr. all the way up to 18,000 c/hr. As many as 1,000 jobs can be pre-programmed and stored in Corona’s computerized system, ensuring consistency from project to project while eliminating the time-consuming task of entering data repeatedly. On-the-fly adjustments can also be made with ease, guaranteeing uncompromised quality at high speeds. In addition, the superbly engineered and highly versatile line of Corona perfect binders is perhaps the most durable in the world, making it a solid and reliable investment for current and future needs.
