basysPrint Goes Direct in US, Ends agreement with Konica Minolta Graphic Imaging

Press release from the issuing company

Boizenburg, Germany, March 8, 2005 - basysprint Gmbh announces that it has decided to adopt a direct sales and service strategy. Consequently, an agreement was reached with Konica Minolta Graphic Imaging U.S.A. that they will no longer distribute the basysPrint products in the U.S.A. Punch International, the new owner of basysPrint since July 2004, wants to maximize the sales and service synergies of its three subsidiaries - basysPrint, Strobbe and Xeikon - in the graphic arts sector and believes that the direct sales and service approach is more suitable for this purpose. Ivan Verheye, President of basysPrint -Strobbe North America adds, "The direct approach will help us better understand the needs of our customers, help focus our future R&D efforts and allow us to better deal with the continued pricing pressures in the pre-press market." A nationwide dedicated sales and service network is already in place to support the basysPrint, Strobbe and Xeikon product lines. The North American headquarters are located in Itasca (a suburb of Chicago, IL) with a Canadian office in the Toronto area. Mr. Verheye concludes, "We are very confident about the future. This decision will enable basysPrint to stay abreast of the latest trends in the pre-press market and seamlessly integrate its products with the Strobbe plate benders to offer the only total pre-press solution to the printing industry."
