30" Monitor Swop Certified With KPG's Matchprint Virtual Proofing System

Press release from the issuing company

Norwalk, Connecticut, USA — Users of the Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) Matchprint Virtual Proofing System – LCD can now proof on the industry’s largest SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) certified monitor. Apple’s 30" Cinema monitor joins four other displays as SWOP certified for use with the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System – LCD. “With this latest certification, our customers now have access to a full range of commercially available LCD monitors, from 20 inches to 30 inches,” said Rob Pipe, Worldwide Director, Monitor and Remote Proofing, KPG. “Adding the Apple 30 inch Cinema monitor furthers the flexibility and usability of our industry leading monitor proofing solution.” Launched at Graph Expo 2004, the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System – LCD is KPG’s second generation, SWOP-certified monitor proofing solution. With the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System – LCD, users employ off the shelf approved LCD monitors integrated into a RealTimeProof workflow to deliver contract color monitor proofing. The Matchprint Virtual Proofing System – LCD now features automatic calibration verification. This new feature ensures and communicates that all monitors in a contract proofing workflow are calibrated and within specifications. The calibration status of all reviewer monitors is then recorded in annotations and proof approvals. The Matchprint Virtual Proofing System – LCD combines the convenience of RealTimeProof with the color and accuracy of the KPG Matchprint Virtual Proofing technology. Utilizing high-end flat panel displays, the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System – LCD simplifies installation requirements and enables personal proofing. The system combines one of five approved Matchprint Virtual – LCD monitors (the Eizo ColorEdge 21", the Apple Cinema Display 20" [plastic], the New Apple Cinema Display 20", the New Apple Cinema Display 23" or the Apple Cinema Display 30") with Matchprint Virtual Proofing Monitor software, a Matchprint Virtual calibrator and the full suite of the RealTimeProof web-based proofing tools. SWOP certification of a color proofing system entails an intensive visual and numerical evaluation by a panel of SWOP-qualified industry experts experienced in viewing and judging color. Matchprint Virtual Proofs were compared visually with SWOP-certified press sheets and numerically with the detailed data in KPG’s SWOP Application Data Sheet (ADS). Each Matchprint Virtual Proofing System includes an integrated tool to enable users to measure color bars or patches on screen and to confirm the proof conforms to color specifications in KPG’s Matchprint Virtual Proof ADS.
