Ricoh Announces WF Enhance Software For Enhanced Printing Workflow

Press release from the issuing company

Simi Valley, CA – March 10, 2005 – Ricoh Printing Systems America, Inc. (RPSA), a leading provider of high-performance printing systems, today announced the immediate availability of a new workflow tool. WF Enhance is a robust, centralized print server solution that integrates job management, printer status and control, and printing workflow into a single tool. It has been designed specifically to work with the DDP series printers and utilizes many of the sophisticated network capabilities of these devices. Now print operators can maximize the efficiency of their printing process and manage the priority of all their print jobs. Using a Windows client application from any workstation on the network, output can be printed, scheduled, paused, deleted, prioritized and reprinted, or archived for later reprinting with the same settings. Print operators can construct workflows using printer clustering, round-robin printing and device substitution. Clustering of multiple printers provides load balancing based on copy and page splitting. Round-robin workflow reduces the wear on one printer by constantly selecting a different device for each new print job. All workflows have the capability of redirecting jobs to other printers with similar features if necessary. WF Enhance can also create logical printers that are configured to perform a specific default function such as pre-printed forms. A logical printer can also represent a cluster of physical printers or allow the print jobs to be routed to the next available free printer. WF Enhance provides real time printer and job status through a sophisticated use of network feedback. “WF Enhance was developed by Ricoh Printing Systems engineers in Japan and it provides many of the same features that you will find included in front-end workflow systems, but at a much lower cost. Our RPSA professional service engineers currently use this tool to improve our customers’ printing workflow and overall productivity,” said Leonard Stone, Vice President, Americas Printer Business. Product Availability WF Enhance software is available immediately through RPSA Professional Services. For information on WF Enhance and DDP Series printers please visit www.rpsa.ricoh.com.
