Unisource Launches Technisource Brand Digital Paper, Offering OEM Quality At Value Pricing

Press release from the issuing company

NORCROSS, GA (October 12, 2004) – Unisource today introduced Technisource, the newest addition to their private brand paper line targeting digital printing and business imaging applications. The new paper brand contains gloss coated, matte coated, and uncoated color copy papers in a variety of basis weights and sizes, offering customers OEM quality at a better value than competing products. “Technisource will provide the papers our customers require to grow their business, and completes Unisource’s already strong line-up of private brand business imaging papers,” said Newell Holt, President, Paper. “We understand the need to provide our customers with a comprehensive paper offering focused on the growing digital print market.” In developing Technisource, Unisource put more than 30 competitive paper grades (from all over the world) through head-to-head comparisons of printed and unprinted paper properties. The grades selected for the new brand were determined to have the best total value, offering customers the highest quality at the lowest cost. “We identified products equivalent in quality to the existing OEM brands and matched those papers with the nationwide private brand capability of Unisource. The result is a new product line which is as good or better at a lower price point,” said Garth Geist, Director, Business Imaging. Technisource also provides superior graphic results with vivid color reproduction for digital printing applications. Technisource Suited for Latest in Digital Printing Technologies Technisource paper meets the increased demands of the growing laser printer and copier markets located at commercial printers and businesses of all sizes throughout the country. The new papers are suitable for all types of laser printing equipment (both color and black & white) including desktop and production digital printing devices. In addition, Technisource is also designed for inkjet printers, offset and digital imaging (DI) printing presses. Lightweight Cartons Address Customer Need for Easy to Handle Packaging Technisource packaging was designed so cartons would be easier to transport to the production room floor or, “the office down the hall,” reducing the strain associated with heavy lifting. “The majority of competing product cartons weigh anywhere from 50 to 80 lbs. Technisource cartons weigh between 24 and 58 lbs. -- a reduction of 52 to 72 percent. This new packaging will be a welcome change in the marketplace,” Geist said. Available Through Unisources’ 84 Locations, Including 44 PaperPlus Stores During the month of October, Unisource is building inventory of Technisource and other core digital products throughout company locations, including at all 44 company-owned PaperPlus stores. “No other company has the complete product offering and market reach of Unisource,” Holt said. “We will stock our core digital paper products across our locations and build a national service model second to none. Our PaperPlus stores will play a vital role in our overall go-to-market strategy,” he said. As part of its commitment to meet marketplace demand, Unisource continually reviews digital paper products for potential addition to the company’s core offerings. In addition to Technisource, the following mill brand products have been selected as core digital items to complete Unisource’s current broad product portfolio: •Appleton Papers – NCR PAPER brand Xero/Form II •Domtar – Microprint Digital Papers •Portucel Soporcel – Navigator Office Papers •SMART Papers – IN•fusion papers for HP Indigo presses •Stora Enso – Futura Laser, Gloss and Dull For more information on Technisource papers, or to receive a Technisource swatchbook or sample pack, contact your local Unisource sales representative.
