KPG Brings Monitor Proofing To The Desktop

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, Illinois, USA — Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) today announced availability of the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD, its second generation, SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) certified monitor proofing solution. With the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD, users employ off the shelf approved LCD monitors integrated into a RealTimeProof workflow to deliver contract color monitor proofing. “The Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD is very easy to implement and helps our customers improve efficiency by driving time and geography out of the workflow,” said Rob Pipe, Business Director, Virtual Proofing, KPG. “Backed by KPG’s unique color science, the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD delivers repeatable, consistent and reliable virtual proofing, monitor to monitor, day to day and location to location.” The Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD combines the convenience of RealTimeProof with the color and accuracy of the KPG Matchprint Virtual Proofing technology. Utilizing high-end flat panel displays, the Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD simplifies installation requirements and enables personal proofing. The system consists of one of four approved Matchprint Virtual — LCD monitors — the Eizo ColorEdge 21”, the Apple Cinema Display 20” (plastic), the New Apple Cinema Display 20” and the New Apple Cinema Display 23”, Matchprint Virtual Proofing Monitor Software, a Matchprint Virtual calibrator and the full suite of RealTimeProof web based proofing tools. “The Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD offers us a cost effective, simple solution for incorporating color accurate proofing into our workflow,” said Tom Collins, Color Manager, Quad/Graphics. “We are impressed by Matchprint Virtual — LCD’s color accuracy and performance. This technology is going to help Quad/Graphics to continue to exceed customer expectations on a daily basis.” KPG's RealTimeProof web applications enable color accurate collaborative or individual proof viewing of original files from a Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD viewing station. In addition, customers can check the status of projects on matchprintvirtual.com from any web enabled Mac or PC computer. Customers can simultaneously view, annotate and mark up proofs online and automatically send e-mail notifications of project progress to team members. As a result, trade shops, clients and agencies can communicate better throughout the proofing process. The Matchprint Virtual Proofing System — LCD recently earned SWOP certification on all four approved monitors. This validates the system’s ability to deliver accurate RGB monitor viewing of CMYK color reproduction that reliably predicts final printed color in the web offset environment. “SWOP certification is an important industry validation of our color monitor technology,” said Pipe. SWOP certification of a color proofing system entails an intensive visual and numerical evaluation by a panel of SWOP-qualified industry experts experienced in viewing and judging color.
