EFI OneFlow Delivers Digital Workflow Benefits to Mitsubishi Imaging Customers

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO--Oct. 11, 2004-- OneFlow(TM) digital workflow solutions, developed by EFI, and marketed by Mitsubishi Imaging, give the small to mid-sized commercial printer an affordable means of realizing all the competitive and quality advantages of digital workflow. Mitsubishi Imaging will showcase EFI OneFlow in its booth 4061 at GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO 2004 on October 10-13 in Chicago. The alliance of these two companies combines Mitsubishi Imaging's longstanding leadership in Computer-to-Polyester Plate technology with EFI's years of experience in digital workflows. As a result, smaller shops specializing in quick-turnaround, short-run print jobs can have all the versatility and productivity associated with the industry's most sophisticated digital workflows. "The productivity of OneFlow provides Mitsubishi Imaging customers with an effective tool to increase productivity by automating prepress steps," states Kimberly Meyers, Marketing Manager at Mitsubishi Imaging. "Previously these powerful tools were available only on high end systems. OneFlow with our CTP solutions and Silver DigiPlate polyester plates allows our traditional customers to remain competitive in a dynamic market." OneFlow allows users to customize workflows to suit the demands of specific shops, job mixes, and installed systems. It integrates powerful tools to convert files to PDF and to execute such functions as preflighting, trapping, imposition, and proofing. In addition to preparing jobs for printing, OneFlow delivers the tools to track and manage jobs from anywhere in real time, all through a browser-based, user-friendly interface. All of this functionality is at the user's command through one application, on one computer. For higher volume environments, OneFlow can easily be installed on multiple computers. "OneFlow offers custom workflow automation for managing output to multiple Computer-To-Plate devices, presenting high growth opportunities to Mitsubishi Imaging customers who are looking to expand their services and drive new revenue," said Frank Mallozzi, VP Worldwide Sales at EFI. "We are delighted to team with Mitsubishi Imaging to deliver this unique, reliable digital, CTP and offset printing solution for effectively streamlining workflows and reducing time and labor costs." OneFlow offers profit-building advantages in four key workflow areas: Production Tools within OneFlow automates functions like imposition, trapping and proofing to ensure jobs are print-ready and of high quality. OneFlow Imposition fully automates the imposition process. It accepts custom EFI Impose(TM) templates as well as third-party templates and offers the opportunity to preview final, PDF-imposed signatures and make last-minute changes. The optional EFI Impose OneFlow Edition provides the ability to build custom imposition templates. Job Management features of OneFlow include interactive job editing, on-the-fly workflow customization and other capabilities to ensure high quality and easy repeatability. Job Tracker allows users to access and manage jobs from any network-connected workstation, and the Approval and Attributes feature makes it easy to preview, approve or modify jobs, including the option of generating low-resolution PDFs for email distribution. Output is based on the OneFlow RIP, which sets new standards for speed and productivity based on the ROOM concept (RIP Once, Output Many). The OneFlow RIP allows numerous output devices to be used simultaneously. In addition to the standard AM screening, OneFlow's optional Hybrid Screening solution gives printers the choice of the type of screening that fits their production requirements best. Color Management is another OneFlow advantage. OneFlow incorporates ICC-based color management functionality. As an original partner member of CIP4, EFI is committed to implementing industry standards and promoting compatibility. Open connectivity to OneFlow via the JDF standard will be demonstrated at GRAPH EXPO. With the arrival of OneFlow from EFI and Mitsubishi Imaging, all of the time and labor savings, quality enhancements, and productivity improvements made possible by digital workflows are finally within reach of every print shop.
