AVT Names Pitman Company U. S. National Distributor

Press release from the issuing company

Hod-Hasharon, Israel, September 13, 2004 – Advanced Vision Technology (AVT), the market leader in process control and quality assurance for the packaging, converting and label printing industry, has named Pitman Company, the leading US supplier to the narrow web, tag and label segment of the flexo printing industry, as the U.S. national distributor of AVT's automatic inspection solutions for the narrow web market. Pitman's Packaging Division now markets and supports AVT's line of automatic defect detection products for narrow web and label applications, including the PrintVision/Helios 100% Automatic Inspection platform, the PrintVision/Jupiter Compact Process Control platform, and ProoFit, an offline verification tool. At Labelexpo 2004, the products will be demonstrated at Pitman's booth (#5407) and also in AVT's booth (#3127). Lance Shumaker, president of AVT-USA, stated, "AVT's automatic web inspection solutions are being received enthusiastically throughout the label industry, and we've selected Pitman to help us expand and accelerate our success in that fast-growing narrow web market. The Pitman Packaging Division has the best expertise in the field and provides the top national sales coverage and support in the label industry. We're very pleased to be working with them to introduce our products to more quality-driven label printers and converters." Bill Ceperich, Senior Vice President Packaging Division for Pitman, noted, "We're excited about working with AVT's automatic defect detection product line. We view AVT products as a major solution for quality control and cost improvement for our customer base. Any time we can introduce our customers to a new, cost-effective solution that can help improve their bottom line performance, then we're doing the right thing for our customers, for AVT and for Pitman." AVT's PrintVision/Helios has enhanced features designed for label printers. It handles 100% quality assurance when installed on finishing equipment and drives down the cost of quality when handling process control on presses by ensuring register, color, eliminating faults, and inspecting die-cutting and matrix removal. PrintVision/Jupiter and PrintVision/Jupiter Compact incorporate software with advanced automatic inspection capabilities. The systems alert press operators to any print defects including spots, streaks, misprints, color variation and misregistration, and displays the faults on a monitor to enable close control of print quality and waste. Add-on modules such as barcode verification and in-line color measurement are available as options. ProoFit is a file-to-press verification tool that compares digital files with printed products and detects errors. ProoFit provides an easy, low-cost method of maximizing quality and reducing waste before and during a press run by detecting faults and ensuring that the correct job is being run.
