Performance and Aesthetics Are Focus of New Swatchbooks from MeadWestvaco Papers Group
Press release from the issuing company
DAYTON, Ohio (August 23, 2004) – MeadWestvaco Papers Group has introduced two new swatchbooks featuring its Sterling Litho C1S and Sterling Ultra C1S gradelines, giving commercial printers and converters, graphic designers and corporate paper specifiers a fresh look at the venerable paper brand.
Over the past three decades, the Sterling Litho C1S product line has earned the distinction of being the market leader in coated-one-side (C1S) papers. It not only provides efficient on-press performance by running fast and staying flat throughout the most demanding printing and converting processes, its high-gloss finish, smooth surface and excellent ink holdout deliver aesthetics and graphic reproduction qualities that enhance the shelf-appeal and point-of-purchase impact of printed materials.
Like Sterling Litho C1S, Sterling Ultra C1S provides the same reliable on-press performance, but with a brighter, blue-white styling that results in whiter whites, true color reproduction and crisp images with exceptional detail.
Designed for offset lithography, flexography and screen printing, Sterling Litho C1S and Sterling Ultra C1S also perform with reliable consistency in folding, gluing, coating, wrapping, printing, embossing, laminating, die-cutting and foil-stamping applications. Their functionality and reliability make the papers ideal choices for book dust jackets, glue-applied labels, box wraps, gift wrap, envelopes, specialty packaging and other applications.
The papers are just two of the product offerings in MeadWestvaco’s full line of coated papers, which includes a variety of grades and basis weights.
New Easy-to-Handle Reference Tools
Designed by VSA Partners, Chicago, the two swatchbooks offer visual reminders of the product benefits on each cover. The Sterling Litho C1S trophy image expresses the market leadership position and the product’s ability to help printers achieve a fast and confident finish. Alternatively, the skeleton key graphic for Sterling Ultra C1S represents the paper as a results-oriented product, the ideal solution for unlocking success on demanding applications requiring a brighter sheet.
Both tools feature sample sheets of Sterling Litho C1S and Sterling Ultra C1S papers in 60 lb., 70 lb., 80 lb., and 100 lb. gloss text, with four perforated tabs per basis weight that provide for easy removal and comparison. The swatchbooks also present a split image to compare and contrast the affects of gloss, dull and no varnish on print results. The top of the image is produced using four-color process, while the bottom is produced as a duotone with two hits of process black and two hits of metallic silver.
In addition, the swatchbook contains complete stocking information, including basis weights, GSMs, sizes, M Weights, sheet per carton/skid and grain orientation for the complete C1S gradeline, as well as basic information on the entire MeadWestvaco portfolio of coated papers.
MeadWestvaco papers are available from leading paper merchants across North America.
