GASC and CIP4 Announce Bevy of JDF programs at GRAPH EXPO

Press release from the issuing company

Washington, D.C. (August 3, 2004) The Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC) and the International Cooperation for the Integration of Processes in Prepress, Press, and Postpress (CIP4) today announced several new programs at GRAPH EXPO(r) and CONVERTING EXPO(r), October 10-13 at Chicago's McCormick Place that will help printers, prepress professionals, and print buyers find the answers they are looking for regarding the future of production in the printing industry. At a time when print professionals are looking for process automation technologies to help them streamline production, cut costs, improve efficiencies, and bolster profits CIP4's Job Definition Format (JDF) is providing the standard that serves the foundation for all future process automation systems. Since January over 200 JDF-enabled products and services have been introduced to the market and many more JDF-enabled product introductions are expected at GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO 2004. "JDF has attracted worldwide attention," said Martin Bailey of Global Graphics and CIP4 CEO, "and North America is indisputably a significant market for printing technology. It is of paramount importance that we do our best to ensure that North American printers get a fair chance to kick the tires on JDF solutions, get answers to their own questions, and to see for themselves what JDF is all about."The main JDF-related event at GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO will be the JDF Pavilion. The JDF Pavilion will feature 18 demonstration "pods" with the following companies and their JDF-enabled solutions: Adobe Agfa Creo, Inc. Dalim Software EFI Global Graphics Software Group Logic, Inc. Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG LithoTechnics Pty Limited Müller Martini Prism Group Holdings Ltd Screen Vio Worldwide Limited WAM!NET Inc. Rather than view simple exhibits, JDF Pavilion attendees will have the opportunity to follow several reoccurring "tours" of the JDF Pavilion pods during which they will see how JDF is exchanged between 4-5 systems of different vendors and learn about the process efficiencies to be gained by JDF-enabled integration and workflows. The JDF Pavilion will also feature staffed information kiosks where attendees can learn more about JDF and JDF Expert Certificate training programs and pick up educational materials. The JDF Pavilion also will include a theater area that will continuously offer a variety of presentations on JDF-related topics. Since JDF-enabled solutions will be plentiful throughout the show floor, "JDF Roadmaps" listing company locations on the show floor and the JDF-enabled products that they are demonstrating will be available. CIP4 will also offer four free morning and afternoon JDF Show Floor Tours leaving from the JDF Pavilion, each with a specific focus and tours stops. Tour 1 will cover JDF and Creative, Front-Office & Customer Exchange Systems; Tour 2, JDF in Prepress; Tour 3, JDF-enabled Workflow and MIS systems; and Tour 4 will feature JDF in the Pressroom and Postpress. Graph Expo attendees may register for the JDF Show Floor tours at: http://www.cip4.org/activities/graphexpo2004/tour_registration.php "Printers' and industry solution providers have hunkered down during the last couple of years. Capital replacement and new investment schedules had been postponed, but this year we see the industry coming back to life and JDF is the topic of the day for many buyers," said Regis J. Delmontagne, President of Graphic Arts Show Company. "GASC is pleased that we have this opportunity to provide attendees with these JDF programs."
