Automated Postal Break Sorting Solution by Lake Image Systems

Press release from the issuing company

December 16, 2003 -- PerfectSort, by Lake Image Systems, enables automated sorting of postal breaks on the output of mail piece processing equipment such as inserters and mailing bases without the need for indicators (such as "*" or "#") on mail pieces. A camera based, single PC solution, PerfectSort decodes a postnet bar-code, planetcode or unique identifier from the mail piece and uses this identifier as a pointer to a data file. PerfectSort performs a real-time data file lookup to identify the appropriate break pieces. When a "break" piece is identified, PerfectSort can provide an output to the bundling, traying or conveying equipment to put a natural break between or tray the correct pieces. Based on Lake Image Systemís operator friendly Windows based platform, PerfectSort provides an exportable audit trail of all pieces processed, each with a date/time stamp. "With labor costs identified as a critical business issue by our clients, PerfectSort enables our customers to eliminate the costs and human error associated with manual identification of postal breaks. PerfectSort is a natural fit with our continued effort to provide the marketplace with solutions which reduce labor expense while enabling mail processors to verify and prove the integrity of production" states Pat Hoskins, Vice-President, Lake Image Systems.
