Heidelberg Reaches U.S. Milestone Selling 250th Prosetter

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga., December 8, 2003 – Heidelberg announced today that in October of this year it sold its 250th Prosetter system in the United States to Delta Printing in Bogalusa, La. After a successful launch at Print 2001 and extensive Beta and customer testing, Heidelberg began installations of the Prosetter in January 2002. The Prosetter was created to meet the needs of printers in small and medium-sized print and prepress companies with cost-effective computer-to-plate (CtP) capabilities. Heidelberg has sold more than 780 Prosetters worldwide and continues to expand and develop CtP technology as the interest in this application increases within the industry. Delta Printing’s Prosetter 102 8-up CtP system with dual punch capabilities and a consumables package will lower the company’s operating costs. Their decision to go to CtP was based primarily on the advantages of eliminating film costs. In addition to the new Prosetter 102, Delta Printing is upgrading its prepress software and systems to further improve the efficiency of the entire division. The prepress package will include Heidelberg’s MetaDimension, the PrepressInterface upgrade, SpinJet 5500 along with Heidelberg’s Color Management software and a large package of consumables that will bring a new level of productivity to the shop. “We feel that by upgrading to the Prosetter and MetaDimension from our existing Primesetter and Delta Workflow, we will advance to the next level in prepress printing technology, “ said Hap Hayden, president of Delta Printing. “We’ve relied on Heidelberg systems for many years and as we have grown, Heidelberg has been able to offer us innovative solutions and applications that have helped us reach our goals. We feel confident in Heidelberg’s products and its people, and we’re excited about the new installations. Our employees are familiar with the software and we are optimistic that this choice will help us reach our financial and production goals in the coming years.” Delta Printing, located in Bogalusa, La., was established in 1965 as a full service print shop, catering to both the packaging and commercial print markets. This mid-sized printshop has 30 employees and uses an array of Heidelberg systems, including a 6-color Speedmaster CD 102 with coater and a CP2000 console with image control. The company also has a 5-color GTO press, Polar cutters and Stahl folders that enhance the company’s finishing and sheetfed departments.
