Quad/Tech Introduces Ink Control System for Newspaper and Commercial Presses

Press release from the issuing company

Sussex, WI -- Quad/Tech, Inc. (QTI), the worldwide leader in press and auxiliary controls, announces the North American introduction of Precisa, a state-of-the-art ink control system and a precision-engineered fountain system that can control up to 120 fountains for newspaper and up to 20 fountains for commercial. According to Karl Fritchen, president of Quad/Tech, “We introduced the Precisa product because we understand that the ink control system is one of the most important elements of newspaper and commercial press operation, due to the need for superior accuracy and maximum durability. A major bottom line plus for owners is Precisa’s superior control of adjustments. We believe our ink control system and fountain represent an unbeatable combination for the newspaper and commercial markets.” Precisa features superior segmented ink key technology that maintains peak accuracy, regardless of light or dark coverage. Hardened steel segment construction gives Precisa maximum longevity and increased accuracy because ink leakage is eliminated due to precision machining. In addition, Precisa offers advanced digital control, which consistently outperforms potentiometer systems by delivering unparalleled accuracy and superior durability. Precisa allows for superior control, with adjustment capability down to 0.25 microns. Individual gear motors and RISC processor drive the ink control system’s steel key construction with hardened tips. Once a move is made, Precisa confirms the move with a feedback signal to ensure system accuracy. Precisa assists in streamlining operations by giving the operator maximum flexibility to adjust ink key profiles by segment, zone, fountain or the entire press, using the system’s trackball to drag and drop or adjusting by percentages. Set up time is reduced through a copy profile feature. Precisa also enables the operator to store and recall jobs. In addition, CIP4 information is maximized with Precisa’s available ink key presetting.
