Kinko's Marks Milestones With Neenah, Adds First FSC-Certified Paper

Press release from the issuing company

DALLAS and ROSWELL, Ga., July 16 -- Kinko's, Inc. and Neenah Paper today announced that Kinko's has upgraded seven paper stocks from 30 to 100 percent post-consumer recycled content and added its first Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) selection through Neenah Paper's ENVIRONMENT Brand. Kinko's selected Neenah Paper's 100-percent post-consumer fiber ENVIRONMENT line for seven of its resume, executive and card stock papers, including the FSC-certified ENVIRONMENT Ultra Bright White. Neenah Paper's ENVIRONMENT Ultra Bright White contains a minimum of 20 percent FSC- certified fiber. The remainder is post-consumer fiber. FSC established an international labeling scheme for forest products, which provides a credible guarantee that the product comes from a well-managed forest. This provides consumers with a guarantee that the product has come from a forest that has been evaluated and certified as being managed according to agreed social, economic and environmental standards. "Earlier this year, Kinko's introduced our Forest-based Product Procurement Policy, which incorporates a strict set of vendor requirements and establishes a central set of recycled content standards," said Larry Rogero, Kinko's director of environmental affairs. "Today, Kinko's marks a major milestone in our pursuit of a sustainable future with the introduction of seven environmentally improved Neenah Papers selections -- including our first FSC-certified stock." "Because of Neenah's experience in the marketplace, we were able to work with Kinko's to supply the 100 percent post-consumer fiber in colors and finishes that best meet Kinko's requirements," said Gerry Rector, senior product development manager, Neenah Paper. "The ENVIRONMENT 100 percent post-consumer fiber papers are available to all our customers as well as to Kinko's." Kinko's selection of these environmentally improved papers is part of its Global Commitment to generate economic, social and environmental value today while ensuring access to these same values for future generations. Specifically, the switch to Neenah Papers ENVIRONMENT Paper line signifies achievements toward two standards set by Kinko's Forest-based Product Procurement Policy. First, the new paper selections are expected to increase Kinko's usage of post-consumer recycled content paper. In addition, the introduction of an FSC-certified selection is the first step toward Kinko's long-term plan to purchase only forest-based products from suppliers that have independently third-party certified, well-managed forests. In addition to the 100 percent post-consumer and FSC-certified papers from Neenah Paper, Kinko's will continue to offer customers an alternative fiber paper from Neenah - Mesa White, which contains 50 percent sugar cane and 50 percent post-consumer recycled fiber.
