Las Vegas, NV (NEXPO Booth #122) – June 16, 2003 – Autologic, an Agfa Company, announced today the availability of the latest version of the popular :Ad Manager V System, a highly flexible, custom-built complete display ad production and tracking system that provides the capability to easily build and manage the creation of display ads. :Ad Manager 5.1 comes with new features and supports additional applications and client operating systems.
AdSuite is the newest client application that can be found in version 5.1 of :Ad Manager. AdSuite offers many display ad functions and capabilities such as display ad building, Web proof generation, publication tracking of ads, individual ad tracking and on-line/historical reporting. Like existing :Ad Manager clients, AdSuite offers central and remote ad building and tracking operations to meet the deadline requirements and position the operation closer to the advertiser.
This new release supports the latest versions of third-party ad building applications, including QuarkXPress™ 5.0.1, InDesignTM 2.0.1, Multi-Ad Creator 6.5.3. The new :Ad Manager V also supports the legacy applications including: Creator Classic, Creator 2, and QuarkXPress™ 4.11.
:Ad Manager V’s on-line and historical reporting capability has been expanded in version 5.1. Customers have the ability to take report templates and generate custom reports for view, output, and/or exporting. Some of these report templates include: Sales, Spec Ad, Advertiser and User. The reports use the system’s relational database to quickly generate the desired report.
:Ad Manager V includes the ability to restore and pickup ads from the near-line archive database, saving valuable time and resources in the ad production operations.
:Ad Manager 5.1 now supports the Macintosh OS X operating system as well as the Macintosh OS 9 and Windows OS. The support of both OS X and OS 9 on the same system allows customers to move display ad building stations and users to the new OS environment at their own pace.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville, KY (daily circ.: 170,000; Sunday circ.: 287,000) has been an :Ad Manager user since 1999. “I particularly like the publication and track review features. Both of those have greatly simplified our nightly production," said Jim Hines, Advertising Technology Manager.
“Before installing :Ad Manager V, we didn't have an effective way to track ad operator productivity. Now, we do,” said Cliff Ito, Ad Graphics Manager, The Advertiser, Honolulu (daily circ.: 147,714; Sunday circ.: 169,998). “We regularly use a report which shows the number of ads each operator completed and the time it took them. This has been an effective tool in managing a staff with a wide range of skills."
About :Ad Manager V
:Ad Manager V includes many benefits for the production and tracking of display ads. Some of the recent software release benefits include Web Proofing, PDF workflow and integration with Autologic’s Preflight software.
- Web Proofing - :Ad Manager V includes the ability to deliver ad proofs over the Internet. The Web Proofing feature allows ad builders to create a PDF document of the ad via the supplied client. Using a browser the advertiser or internal sales personnel have the ability to login to the newspaper. They are then presented their proof ads. Approved ads can then be automatically released to the pagination system. Changes can be relayed back from the web view to the ad document folder. The history of the web proofing events is tracked in the database.
- PDF Workflow - :Ad Manager V has the capability to integrate a PDF workflow. The system can receive PDF and files that would be used for ad building. :Ad Manager V also can create PDF ad files for output, delivery to pagination system, and/or delivery to other sources.
- Preflight Integration - :Ad Manager V can also be integrated with Autologic’s :PreCheck preflight software to help assure ads will output on the paginated page. This automated workflow will have completed ads checked by the :PreCheck RIP software. This automated preflight process is done well in advance of pagination page deadlines to eliminate last minute output problems.
