alfaQuest Announces Mac OS X Workflow Products

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL June 12, 2003 - alfaQuest Technologies, Inc. has designed a complete modular suite of Mac OS X compatible workflow products, whereby the user can configure the ideal applications solution from simple text pages through the most demanding signature impositions. The Panther Mac OS X RIP is a true Adobe(r) PostScript(tm)3(tm) raster image processor for Panther Imagesetting Systems. Running on Power Macintosh(r) OS X platforms, Panther RIP harnesses the horsepower of Apple's latest technology. The Panther RIP accepts jobs in PostScript, PDF, TIFF, EPS or JPEG formats. This latest release is a full update to the complete Panther workflow product line, taking advantage of the advanced functionality and stability provided by Mac OS X. The applications benefit from the improved reliability gained by using an industrial-strength operating system, as well as the state-of-the-art user interface supported in Mac OS X. This new software release is another example of alfaQuest's commitment to keep the Panther workflow system up-to-date with the latest advances in industry technology. The Panther Mac OS X applications use the same standardized user interface as the previous applications for Mac OS and Windows NT. Current Panther RIP customers can move up to Mac OS X with a minimal learning curve and can take advantage of everything they have learned from their successful use of our applications in the past. Although the user interface has been updated to use the new Mac OS X appearance, current customers will find the new applications to be very familiar. In addition, the Panther Mac OS X applications continue alfaQuest tradition of providing seamless compatibility between operating systems across the complete product line. Customers can mix and match between Mac OS X, classic Mac OS, and Windows NT applications with complete compatibility. For example, a customer can use a Mac OS X RIP to create archive files which are imposed on a Windows NT system using PageImposer, then sent to a Mac OS 9 computer with Archive Browser for output to an image recorder. This is very important for customers who wish to selectively upgrade some areas of their operations without having to obsolete their existing equipment. The use of an Adobe-based solution guarantees that alfaQuest will continue to provide the highest level of compatibility with evolving technologies such as Acrobat and in-RIP trapping, as well as with Adobe applications such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. As the driving force behind these new technologies, Adobe has a well-deserved reputation for innovation and is the standard of quality for the prepress industry. alfaQuest and Adobe have worked closely for many years to certify that every application release meets the highest standards of quality and usability. The Panther family's modular architecture lets the user configure a system for their exact application including Panther PageTrapper, Panther PageImposer, ESCOR Screening, Panther OPI and Panther Archive Browser. alfaQuest Technologies will be demonstrating the complete suite of Mac OS X compatible applications at the NAA NEXPO Newspaper Production Conference in Las Vegas, NV, June 16th-June 19th.
