E-Book Systems Introduces Authoring Tool for Digital Publications

Press release from the issuing company

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--June 10, 2003-- E-Book Systems, the leader in 3D Digital Flip technology -- introduces FlipPublisher, which creates dynamic 3-D page-turning digital "FlipBooks" with rich media content such as text, audio, video, photographs and music. FlipPublisher allows your audience to "turn" pages like they are reading a hard copy of a book, eliminating the need to scroll through documents. Magazines, newsletters, novels, textbooks, catalogs, brochures, portfolios, company manuals, financial reports and more can be created as a "FlipBook" with FlipPublisher. Once a FlipBook is created, it can be electronically delivered via the Web, or formatted onto CD-ROM for offline delivery. The CD-ROM can be viewed on any PC. FlipPublisher empowers the owners of content to become their own publishers to create a virtual flipping book that users are accustomed to. Publishing FlipBooks via the Web or CD-ROM saves a lot of paper printing and delivery cost for publishers. "We believe one of the most powerful features of FlipPublisher is the ability to include page-based advertisements that will not annoy the reader," says Dr. Ho Seng-Beng, President of E-Book Systems. "This is particularly applicable in the case of eMagazines." FlipPublisher introduces an intuitive viewing experience, an easy creation process and a self-contained distribution mechanism. The following are some of FlipPublisher key features: -- Import text documents via drag and drop. -- Auto pagination and chaptering. -- Import HTML documents in individual pages. -- Re-size text columns and rows with grid and ruler. -- Add bookmarks with custom text, shapes and colors. -- Supports multimedia objects such as video, audio, and image on page. -- Add special effects to images, such as 3D, frame, crop shape. -- Publish flipbooks onto CDs or on the Internet. Your flipbook is easily accessible by your audience. CDs that are distributed are totally self-contained and launches automatically on the reader's PC. No installation of software is necessary. Flipbooks posted online can be viewed using a free version of E-Book System's FlipViewer 2.2, or FlipViewer Lite 2.2. Readers can even bookmark individual pages, and easily access hyperlinks on the pages by simply clicking on the links. SRP for FlipPublisher is $299 and is only available direct at http: www.flippublisher.com. The minimum systems requirements include IBM© PC compatible, Intel Pentium II 300 MHz or better, 128 MB RAM or more, and Microsoft Windows 98 or above. FlipBooks use the OpenFlip XML-based technology. It is denoted by a small index file (.OPF) regardless of how large the overall flipbook size, which means a user who publishes a large FlipBook would still be able to e-mail it with the small index file as attachment.
