alfaQuest releases alfaBender, an edge register punch bender

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL June 4, 2003 - alfaQuest Technologies, Inc. announced today, the availability of the alfaBender, an economic and highly accurate Edge Register Punch Bender ideal for complementing the FasTRAK CTP product line. The alfaBender automatically produces 240 Singlewide or Doublewide plates per hour in mixed production. It is a two-stage punch bender that locks the plate into registration in the punch station and then moves the plate via the locked registration shuttle to the bend station without compromising the plate registration. The design is for left, right or straight plate throughput and includes up to six hardened steel contacts that consistently produce plates with an accuracy of ±0.001 (0.25mm). Three contacts remain stationary while the other three push the plate into proper registration. Made with hardened steel skirts, the contacts maintain the expected registration tolerance. The Rotary-Bend-Leaf design helps to hold the bend angle tolerance without damaging the plates. Both head and tail edges are simultaneously roll-bent by this unique system. The alfaBender includes hardened and grounded-steel mandrels for precision and long life along with a seamless conveyor belt system that insures smooth movement and transition of plates. The diagnostic display informs the operator of bender errors, as well as maintenance and trouble shooting information. alfaQuest Technologies will be debuting the alfaBender in conjunction with its FasTRAK CTP/C UV conventional platesetters at the upcoming NEXPO Newspaper Production Conference in Las Vegas, June 16th-19th.
