Wilmington, Mass. and Salfords, Surrey, England, May 1, 2003 - Agfa Monotype Corp. is now shipping the new Monotype Library of 1,352 fonts. The collection features over 300 new designs including Linex Sans(tm), Haarlemmer(tm), Mundo Sans(tm) and Scene(tm). Also included are timeless faces such as Gill Sans, Times New Roman and Rotis. The contents of the library can be viewed at www.fonts.com/mtlibrary.
"The new Monotype Library continues to develop and grow in line with a tradition spanning over 100 years," said Robin Nicholas, head of typography at Agfa Monotype. "Fine new typefaces from in-house designers such as Mundo Sans from Carl Crossgrove are joined by faces from some of the best international designers, exemplified by Linex Sans from renowned French designer, Albert Boton."
With typefaces such as Plantin, Dante and Photina, and with releases dating back to 1913, Agfa Monotype's catalog of fonts has long served as a resource for graphic professionals. The new Monotype Library features recent releases including Linex Sans, an addition to the Linex family with its subtle, calligraphic overtones. Haarlemmer is a recreation of Jan Van Krimpen's serif text family originally drawn in the 1930s but never produced due to World War II. The humanistic Mundo Sans family contains 14 fonts ranging from very light to extremely heavy in weight. The library also features Scene, a sans serif text face designed by Sebastian Lester of Agfa Monotype. Lester was inspired to design a typeface that was clean, calm and highly legible, particularly for designers working in corporate identity and other areas of design.
All fonts in the Monotype Library are available for both Microsoft Windows and Macintosh platforms. Each typeface includes the euro currency symbol. Agfa Monotype is the exclusive distributor of the CD-ROM-based library. Customers may order the collection by calling Agfa Monotype at 1.800.424.8973, prompt three from the U.S. and Canada or 0800 371242, prompt three from the U.K.
