Printcafe: PSI Aids New London Press in Providing Speed/Quality

Press release from the issuing company

PITTSBURGH, PA (April 14th, 2003) - Printcafe Software, Inc., the operating system for print(TM), today announced that New London Press of Alpharetta, Ga., is utilizing the Printcafe PSI print management system to better track client needs and enhance customer service response time. New London Press, a commercial sheetfed printer, offers the latest in computer-to-plate technology, plus custom die-cutting, finishing and mailing services. Much of its work is corporate marketing, as well as packaging and direct mail. Vice President Eric Rountree says the company specializes in quick turnarounds on high-quality work. New London Press is leveraging PSI for faster turnarounds on both jobs and estimates. "Projects are moving very fast in our industry today, and PSI doesn't allow us to be careless," Rountree said. "PSI helps us to ensure we're not skipping procedures or inefficiently producing projects." New London Press uses PSI for job planning, job costing, estimating and purchasing, and Rountree says the system has helped to bridge the gap between estimating and print workflow. "PSI communicates the way the job has been estimated to our production staff so that the project is produced as estimated," Rountree said. "With PSI, it's clear what the estimator was planning and how the project should be completed. Then on the back end, PSI alerts you to variations in actual versus estimated costs so that we can adjust our standards to improve the accuracy of our estimates." In addition, New London Press offers inventory control and fulfilment services. PSI has allowed the company to better track the way it charges for these services. "PSI has allowed us to fulfill our client needs in a way that works well for our accounting and customer service departments," Rountree explained. Printcafe's PSI print management system enables printers to lower costs, improve productivity and increase revenues. PSI provides the tools that facilitate efficient and accurate completion of each print production job by automating purchasing, operations and financial functions within the printing plant. The solutions integrate estimating, order entry, scheduling, job tickets, purchasing, inventory control, job tracking, shipping and billing into a single package designed specifically for commercial printers.
