NEW YORK--April 7, 2003-- Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing, today introduced the newest module in its powerful Velocity(TM) workflow software suite.
Velocity Exchange(TM) is an online application for print providers and customers that increases productivity through automating print job order management. With the addition of Exchange, the Velocity suite provides a seamless, total solution for managing digital workflows from job submission to prepress to print production. Velocity Exchange will be demonstrated at On Demand, the premiere digital printing and publishing show taking place this week at the Javits Convention Center in New York.
Velocity Exchange enables online communication between print centers and their customers, enhancing customer service, streamlining the order management process, and increasing productivity. Through the secure, controlled Velocity Exchange interface, customers can submit job orders online and track progress with real-time job status updates. A range of digital tools facilitates in-shop workflow from order receiving to remote proofing and approvals, speeds job completion time and makes the entire process run faster and more smoothly. Velocity Exchange is an ideal solution for small to mid-size print centers such as in-plants, corporate and educational reproduction departments, print-for-pay and quick print shops.
"Today's print providers are striving to reduce costs while attracting and retaining customers in this tough economy. EFI is excited to offer Velocity Exchange to streamline print job order management which will benefit both buyers and printers with greater accuracy, efficiency, collaboration and cost savings," said Guy Gecht, CEO of EFI. "Printers will be able to leverage the full power of Velocity to manage their workflow seamlessly from order management to production, resulting in greater control over their business and increased customer satisfaction."
Velocity Exchange connects print providers with buyers through a range of easy to use online features, including:
Simplified Order Submission - customers can conveniently submit files by printing from any application (using a print center-branded PDF driver), or by dragging and dropping any file on to the print center link on the desktop; an easy to use 'Quick Ticket' interface enables single page ordering for fast, accurate job submission
Customer Project Tracking - up-to-the-minute order status is accessible online or through automated email notifications sent to customers
Online Proofing and Approvals - customers can proof online or receive proofs in PDF format for fast turn-around on time critical jobs
In-Shop Order Management - collaborative tools facilitate order review and processing of incoming jobs to reduce errors, alleviate stress on staff, and boost productivity
Anytime, anywhere digital printing services with 24/7 availability
Velocity Exchange will integrate seamlessly with EFI's complete Velocity workflow software line, including Velocity OneFlow(TM) for pre-press and computer-to-plate (CTP) workflows and Velocity Balance(TM) for managing multi-printer environments. Built on open standards, it can also integrate easily with third party workflow applications.
EFI will begin deployment of Velocity Exchange in North America in Q2 2003.
