Press release from the issuing company
NEW YORK--April 7, 2003-- Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing and Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc., today announced the availability of the ColorPASS-Z5400 server to drive Canon's CLC 5000+ 50 ppm(1) and CLC 3900+ ppm color printer/copier for mid to high-volume production and corporate printing environments. Powered by EFI's feature packed, new Fiery Q4000 technology and Fiery System 5 software, the ColorPASS Z5400 maximizes productivity and can be seen in the Canon Booth #2219 and EFI booth #3535 at On Demand taking place at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, New York, April 7 - 9.
The ColorPASS Z5400 features EFI's Command WorkStation 4(TM) for easy, centralized print job management, Fiery ColorWise 3 in-RIP color management system for consistently accurate color output across platforms and applications, and Fiery DocBuilder Pro(TM) for full document imposition. Fiery NetWise(TM) for seamless connectivity to all popular network platforms and Fiery Scan(TM) for easy network and distribution scanning capabilities are also included.
"We are delighted to partner with EFI and combine their powerful, digital color printing technology with our new ColorPASS Z5400 server," said Mark Suzuki, director and assistant general manager of Canon U.S.A.'s Graphic Arts Systems Division. "Our combined expertise creates a perfect solution for extreme printing environments where the efficiency and productivity are constantly being taken to the next level."
Powerful Variable Data Printing
The ColorPASS-Z5400 offers an ideal platform for variable data printing. Its open Fiery server architecture is compatible with the most extensive range of VDP languages available -- including the industry standard PPML -- making it the fastest and most flexible platform on the market. Fiery FreeForm(TM) is also available, providing an overall robust solution. Additionally, The VDP resource manager enables users to store and manage previously RIPped objects while EFI's Fast Merge accelerates stream objects to enhance variable data printing for output rich in image content.
Professional Graphic Arts Tools
Included with the ColorPASS Z5400 server is the Fiery Graphic Arts Package, a suite of specialized tools designed to streamline workflow and increase productivity while assuring consistently accurate color and print quality. Also included with the ColorPASS Z5400 is the standard Advanced Controller Interface Kit, which includes an 18" color monitor, keyboard and a mouse for job and color management control at the device location.
"The ColorPASS Z5400 color server features EFI's breakthrough server-class technology, delivering powerful productivity and workflow solutions to Canon customers," said Bernie Lepore, Director of Sales for EFI. "EFI's Fiery server technology and Canon's CLC 5000+ printer/copier creates a best-of-class, complete digital printing solution for the high-volume color printing market."
The ColorPASS Z5400 will be available in late April 2003 with a suggested retail price of $52,300 (includes Fiery Graphic Arts Package and Advanced Controller Kit) through all authorized Canon U.S.A. dealers and Canon Business Solutions locations.
