EFI and Datalogics Team to Promote PPML as a Universal Output Option

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO--April 2, 2003-- Electronics for Imaging and Datalogics announced today that the companies are cooperating to promote the adoption and use of PPML (personalized print mark-up language) through a unique variable data printing (VDP) solution. The VDP solution will allow customers to print full color personalized documents that were created using Datalogics DL Formatter DL-100(TM) at rated engine speeds by utilizing EFI's Fiery color server technology and the industry standard PPML. "Datalogics is excited about working with EFI to bring the ease of DL-100 document personalization to the Fiery user community," stated Kevin McNeill VP of Sales and Marketing at Datalogics. "With a standards based workflow such as PPML, and the graphics arts industries acceptance of Adobe Acrobat, the Datalogics and EFI combination is a win for the consumer" PPML an output specification set forth by the Print On Demand initiative (PODi), is an optimized print option that is intended to create a universal output standard, which would result in a faster RIP. The advantage of emitting and consuming PPML is inter operability. With a shared output language, software and hardware developers alike should have a broader market and customers have more flexibility when creating a file for print. EFI's latest Fiery color servers support PPML and are optimized for printing variable information at rated engine speed, making it the fastest, most flexible VDP platform on the market. Ghilad Dziesietnik, VP of Advanced Workflow and Core Software Technology at EFI, stated, "EFI is committed to promoting inter-operability through standard PPML and furthering new growth opportunities in digital printing. By taking full advantage of Datalogics DL-100 and the latest Fiery server technology, customers can achieve full color variable data printing at maximum speeds. We are pleased to align with Datalogics to offer the industry this flexible, high-speed VDP workflow solution.
