STAMFORD, Conn., March 11 -- International Paper Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Dillon today announced that Chris Liddell, currently vice president, finance, has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer. Liddell was chief executive officer of Carter Holt Harvey prior to joining International Paper and being named vice president of finance, in 2002. "Chris has extensive financial experience, having earlier served as chief financial officer for Carter Holt Harvey. In addition, he brings a great deal of experience in leading a business and getting results," said Dillon. "Chris has a real depth of knowledge -- a combination of financial expertise and business experience -- which makes him extremely well suited for this new appointment." Liddell has a Bachelor of Engineering degree with honours from Auckland University, New Zealand, and a Master of Philosophy from Oxford University, England. He is married and has two children, and will remain located at the company's Stamford, Conn., office.
