Fusion Announces Advanced In-RIP Trapping and PDF/X Support in IV RIP

Portland, OR; Monday, March 10, 2003 -- Fusion Systems International, the industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Unix Raster Image Processors (RIPs), announced today Fusion IV for SGI IRIX and Sun Solaris. Fusion IV is based on Global Graphics' Harlequin Eclipse release and features advanced TrapPro in-RIP trapping option and extended PDF and PDF/X support. Fusion IV features include: •        Support for PDF 1.4 with transparency and JBIG2 •        Continued support and enhancements to ISO PDF/X-1a and the new PDF/X-3 •        Harlequin ColorPro , combining the features of HIPP and HFCS •        Support for N-color and grays in ICC profiles •        Black threshold parameter added to "Custom Rendering Intent" •        New and Advanced TrapPro in-RIP trapping engine TrapPro TrapPro is an all new, advanced in-RIP trapping option that uses the Harlequin Display List to trap (raster) objects. TrapPro uses the Harlequin RIP rendering engine so it is accurate to the pixel. The application follows all the Adobe(r) PostScript(r) 3 in-RIP trapping standards, and is remarkably fast in producing exceptional quality traps. Two levels of trapping are offered, TrapPro and TrapPro FULL. "TrapPro FULL rivals competitive trapping applications to provide a powerful, automated, in-RIP trapping solution that addresses market demands for quality, speed, and reliability," comments Logan Herbert, Director of Business Development for Fusion Systems International. Anyone purchasing a Fusion 3.1 version as of November 1, 2002 will receive a free upgrade to Fusion IV upon availability. EasyTrap and TrapWorks customers will receive TrapPro-Lite with Fusion IV and can upgrade to TrapPro FULL for a fee. Customers of the low resolution, wide format Fusion System products (Fusion CPS or ColorRay can upgrade to an Eclipse release as well for a special introductory price.
