Heidelberg Adds Enfocus Certified PDF Technology to ImageSmart Workflow
Press release from the issuing company
Ghent, Belgium and San Mateo, CA - March 7, 2003 - Heidelberg’s ImageSmart Document Mastering workflow application for the Digimaster 9110 printing system is the latest solution from Heidelberg to support award-winning Enfocus Certified PDF technology, the two companies announce today. This follows October news of Heidelberg’s support for Enfocus Certified PDF as part of its Prinect Printready automated JDF workflow. Both the creation and access to certified files are possible through the Enfocus PitStop Library integrated into Printready as well as the PitStop plug-in.
The next major release of Heidelberg’s ImageSmart Document Mastering PDF-based front-end workflow application will include Enfocus Certified PDF as part of the SmartBoard plug-in, where all edits made to PDFs files -- including what was edited, who edited it, and when -- will now be recorded and will reside in the Certified PDF Edit Log appended to every Certified PDF. Heidelberg will unveil this enhanced version of ImageSmart with Enfocus Certified PDF technology at the CeBit show in Hanover Germany in March and On Demand conference in New York City (USA) in April.
"Heidelberg’s power and reach in the digital printing segment will bring the value of the Certified PDF workflow to significant new markets. We’re excited by the potential, as our partnership with Heidelberg over the years has always resulted in noteworthy successes for both of us,” says Peter Camps, Enfocus' CEO.
ImageSmart Document Mastering 2.2 is part of Heidelberg‘s ImageSmart Workflow Suite, a product portfolio built on a scalable, truly open architecture and designed to improve the digital printing workflow. ImageSmart software helps printers maximize their capabilities and provides powerful job submission and document mastering functions. ImageSmart Document Mastering 2.2 utilizes the industry-standard Adobe Acrobat 5.0 software.
The software‘s centerpiece is the Heidelberg SmartBoard plug-in, which enables a range of functions to be completed within the ImageSmart Document Mastering application. It provides full support of job tickets, tab creation, two-up imposition, image editing, SNMP, synchronization of paper catalogs by printer and empowers users with increased productivity by accepting print-ready files submitted by customers.
Gerard Giuliano, Workflow Market Manager, Heidelberg Digital L.L.C. adds, "Enfocus has proven to be a true leader in its niche, as well as a hard-working and creative partner. In Certified PDF technology, Enfocus has taken the kernel of excellent technology that is PDF and turned it into an extraordinary workhorse for our industry, with positive ramifications for so many facets of our business. We are delighted to be able to work with Enfocus to bring such substantial benefit to our ImageSmart customers."
The Certified PDF Edit Log can be accessed by any Enfocus product: PitStop Professional, PitStop Server, Instant PDF and now the new, free Enfocus Certified PDF Reader, a plug-in to Adobe Acrobat Reader -- as well as the full version of Acrobat - thereby allowing anyone to “participate” in the Certified PDF workflow for free - anyone can verify the status of a PDF, view the edit log and be confident that it is tamper-free and ready to output at any stage in the workflow.
