David Knauer Elected New Chairman of The SC Council

NEW YORK, March 3, 2003 – David Knauer, President of Madison International Sales Company, has been elected Chairman of the SC Council, a worldwide association of leading paper manufacturers that produce quality supercalendered (SC) paper. The SC Council’s objective is to promote the use of supercalendered (SC) paper in North America for the production of quality applications such as magazines, catalogs and other printed materials. The Council is comprised of member companies that are all leading producers of quality SC paper: Abitibi-Consolidated, Inc; Great Northern Paper, Inc.; International Paper Company; Madison International Sales Company; Norske Skog (USA), Inc.; and St. Marys Sales Company. Mr. Knauer, who succeeds Mark Cassidy of Norske Skog (USA) Inc., will hold the honorary position for two years. He has served as the President of Madison International Sales Company since 1996, before which he was a marketing director at S.D. Warren Co., a division of SAPPI Ltd. Mr. Knauer was with S.D. Warren for nearly 26 years, beginning at the company as a sales representative in 1970. He worked his way up through the ranks becoming a manager in 1974, and in 1978 advanced to district sales manager of the company in Rochester, New York. Mr. Knauer later held district sales manager posts in the company’s Cincinnati and Boston offices. He was promoted to director of marketing for S.D. Warren in 1992.
