Creo Contributes Prepress Solution to GATF

Press release from the issuing company

BOSTON -- February 26, 2003 -- Creo is pleased to announce its support of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) through the donation of the prepress solution that reflects successful business practices and quality prepress. Creo has donated collaborative workflow products including a Prinergy(r) workflow management system, Synapse(r) Prepare software, and Synapse(r) InSite, the Internet portal into prepress that is streamlining print production cycles. The donation also includes the industry-leading Preps(r) page imposition layout software for offset printing. The Creo prepress solution is based on the new industry file standard JDF, the foundation for Networked Graphic Production, the initiative that brings unprecedented control, efficiency, and visibility into the entire print production process. Students will be using the tools and knowledge of the latest technology and best practices for efficient productivity. Creo Quote... "We are delighted to provide the absolute latest in workflow tools, including PDF-file preparation, remote proofing, imposition and workflow management to the GATF," explains Barry Quart, Creo vice president, product marketing. "Students training at the GATF facilities will be using products from Creo, the PDF-workflow leaders, as last fall's 2002 PDF Workflow Shootout, conducted by Seybold Publications and Seminars demonstrated. They will be working with a complete JDF-based solution today in preparation for the industry demands of the future." Synapse InSite Internet Portal... One of the productivity tools at the heart of Networked Graphic Production, the Synapse InSite Internet portal into prepress, is shortening job cycle times, reducing the cost of proofing and courier costs, and increasing control and involvement in the print process. Version 3.5 of this web-based workflow allows print buyers to upload files and have them automatically processed directly through the Prinergy workflow and be available immediately for proofing and review. It simplifies the process of having multiple stakeholders collaborate, review and approve content. GATF Quote... "We look forward to using Synapse InSite software to reduce our use of overnight couriers, and to manage and automate communication regarding job files of printing we do for the Printing Industries of America (PIA)," explains Julie Shaffer, director of the Robert Howard Center for Imaging Excellence at the GATF.
