CHESAPEAKE, VA(February 13 , 2003) –Have you done it on YUPO? Yupo Corporation America announces an innovative new awards program that recognizes superior projects designed on YUPO synthetic papers – the first annual ‘Wally Awards’. In the spirit of YUPO,‘Wally Winning’ designs will reflect a mix of functionality, creativity, originality, and even fun. The inaugural awards program is open to any and all projects that designers, graphic artists, printers and marketing professionals in North and South America have created on YUPO synthetic papers. To enter, register via www.wallyaward.com or visit www.yupo.com. To encourage inclusion and participation, the program has no entry fee and can include projects developed within the last five years. Projects can include, but are not limited to, maps, marketing materials, point-of-purchase displays, signs, menus, tags, and brochures. “As we celebrate the fifth anniversary of Yupo Corporation America in 2003, we felt it was time to recognize the support, loyalty and enthusiasm that graphic communication professionals have shown to Yupo,” says Paul Mitcham, Yupo’s Marketing Manager. “As for the name, we’re honoring the tremendous response to one of the most popular characters in our marketing programs – ‘Wally’.” Four ‘Wally Awards’ will be presented in November 2003. A peer review committee will select three winners based on Originality, Creativity and Functionality. A fourth “Designer’s Choice” category will be voted by graphic communications professionals via www.wallyaward.com. Voting will begin in May 2003. Each ‘Wally’ winner will receive a weekend fortwo to New York City, San Francisco, or New Orleans, and a custom-designed, collectable “Wally Award”.
