Global Graphics Adds Objectif Lune to PDF Customer Base
Press release from the issuing company
Cambridge, 10th January, 2003: Global Graphics S.A. announced today that its subsidiary, Global Graphics Software Inc., a leading developer of software for document creation and printing, has signed a licensing agreement with Objectif Lune of Canada to supply software for the next generation of PlanetPress, Objectif Lune’s Intelligent Form software. PlanetPress allows businesses to reduce operating expenses by easily creating and customising invoices, mail pieces and insurance forms using laser printers, entirely eliminating the need for pre-printed business forms designed for impact printers.
Objectif Lune has experienced growth of over 800% in the last five years as the demand for digital printing and variable data printing capability continued to accelerate, and was named one of Canada’s fastest growing technology companies in the 2002 Deloitte Touche Canadian Technology Fast 50. Objectif Lune is licensing Jaws PDF Library™ from Global Graphics, a library of routines for software developers who want to seamlessly integrate the ability to translate PostScript files into the Portable Document Format (PDF) into their own applications.
PlanetPress has a powerful design capability that includes traditional desktop publishing features. Documents can be designed on screen to run directly on a laser printer with no host or server software and with no modification to other current applications. The documents generated can be combined with variable data from a host computer and then printed, archived, e-mail and/or faxed.
Jaws PDF Library will be integrated into PlanetPress to generate PDFs for the archiving solution PlanetPress Image, convert PostScript files into the TIFF™ format for the faxing solution PlanetPress Fax, and will be used to produce pre-flight screen previews in PDF in the PlanetPress form design tool.
Objectif Lune’s CEO Didier Gombert said, "Jaws PDF Library is robust and reliable. It’s supplied as a Software Development Kit with a complete Application Programming Interface to enable us to customise it to our application. In testing we found that the speed of file translation was good and that, crucially, the final file size was predictable every time, continuing to give us the stability and performance that are critical to this product. So, I have no doubt that Jaws PDF Library will give our product a better feature set and we are particularly pleased that we are able to produce better quality PostScript or PDF resource for our intelligent forms technology."
Jim Freidah, Global Graphics Software’s president and chief operating officer, comments, "This agreement is one of several PDF opportunities we have been working on in recent months. We are finding that our PDF technology is living up to its well-earned reputation for reliability, cost-effectiveness and flexibility. The number of innovative software applications where it is being specified is growing significantly. "
The PlanetPress Suite is Objectif Lune’s flagship product line and will be shipped with Global Graphics’ software technology by the end of first quarter 2003. PlanetPress is available to corporations and print shops interested in variable data printing through Objectif Lune’s worldwide-certified reseller group, which includes manufacturers of digital printing equipment as well as large resellers. Some software manufacturers also integrate PlanetPress technology to give a forms printing option.
