David Barton Named Director of Sales for Quad/Tech

Press release from the issuing company

Sussex, Wisconsin – David Barton was appointed Quad/Tech’s new Director of Sales, Quad/Tech President Karl Fritchen announced recently. "David brings a wealth of product knowledge and industry expertise to this role," Fritchen said. "He understands the needs of our customers, and is dedicated to providing the best sales and customer support in the industry," Fritchen added. Barton takes on the top leadership role in the company’s sales department—a spot that Fritchen recently held prior to his appointment as president. "This is a challenging time for our industry. In this extremely competitive environment, it is critical that our products enable our customers to grow their businesses through improved production efficiencies. I am excited about the opportunity of using the expertise of this world-class organization to provide just such technology solutions to our global customer base," Barton said. Barton originally joined Quad/Tech in 1986 and was instrumental in establishing Quad/Tech as an international company during the four years he served as Vice President of Sales. He moved on in December 1990 in pursuit of other opportunities. Barton later rejoined Quad/Tech in December 2000 where he was involved in several marketing projects before becoming the Business Unit Manager for the Color Control Team. Barton began his printing career in England, as an apprentice with Southernprint, now a Quad/Tech customer. During his six-year apprenticeship, he studied at the Southern School of Art and Design, gaining certification in printing technologies. He then joined Crosfield Electronics (now PressTech) in a sales capacity. During his tenure there he was involved in the marketing effort for several innovative printing technologies, including the early introduction of color separation scanners. Barton later accepted an opportunity to move from England to Canada where he headed a start-up organization that marketed graphics arts equipment. This ultimately led to his promotion to Vice President of Sales & Marketing and a move to the company’s head office in New Jersey. From there, he joined Quad/Tech in 1986. Quad/Tech is the premier process control expert in web auxiliaries. It is the only supplier of both closed loop color and color register control that has sold thousands of register control systems worldwide. QTI also designs and manufactures other press control systems, material handling equipment and a complete line of finishing control products. The company recently acquired PressTech Controls Ltd. in the United Kingdom, further strengthening its presence in the gravure, newspaper and packaging industries.
