EFI and Xerox Announce High-Speed, Fiery Controller for DocuColor 3535

FOSTER CITY, Calif.--Feb. 10, 2003--Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing, and Xerox Corporation announced today the availability of the Fiery X3e controller with Fiery System 5e software for the new Xerox DocuColor 3535 Printer/Copier. The Fiery X3e integrated print controller brings outstanding speed, advanced color management capabilities and document control to the Xerox DocuColor 3535, which produces 35 pages per minute in color or black & white. "The powerful architecture of the Fiery X3e is widely recognized and offers the flexibility to deliver optimum performance to the DocuColor 3535," said Rob Stewart, vice president of marketing, Office Color Products, Xerox Corporation. "This system permits even casual users to produce professional-quality, full-color, finished documents quickly and easily, while enabling economical production of both black & white and color jobs in offices, corporate reproduction departments and at graphic arts firms." The Fiery X3e controller delivers the latest versions of EFI's renowned productivity-enhancing tools including Command WorkStation 4 for centralized print job management, Fiery ColorWise to help professionals achieve greater color quality control and Fiery NetWise for seamless connectivity to all popular network platforms. Additionally, the X3e features Fiery FreeForm technology for variable data printing (VDP) and Fiery Scan for easy network distribution such as FTP or e-mail. New for the Fiery X3e is the latest version of EFI's Smart RIP technology, increasing the overall RIPping performance of the controller and boosting print engine productivity. The Fiery X3e controller is also PrintMe capable, enabling individuals to print documents from any mobile device to any PrintMe-enabled DocuColor 3535 without requiring software or driver installation. The controller runs on a powerful 850-megahertz Mobile Pentium III processor and the Linux operating system, and supports native Adobe PostScript Level 3. An optional feature is Fiery DocBuilder Pro for editing and assembling entire documents before RIPing the files. Availability The DocuColor 3535 with integrated Fiery X3e controller will be available March 14 in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia through the Xerox direct sales force, agents and concessionaires. Orders are currently being taken in North America and Europe.
