Press release from the issuing company

Ridgefield Park, NJ -- Agfa Graphics today announced Keller Crescent, a packaging printer based in Greensboro, North Carolina, is the latest customer to be honored with an award from Agfa's GreenWorks Environmental Recognition program. GreenWorks, Agfa's green initiative that was launched in 2008, recognizes and honors printers that integrate, support and promote environmentally-sound practices.  As part of good safety, environmental and economical stewardship, Keller Crescent continuously makes improvements to its production facilities. Keller Crescent has integrated several environmentally-sound printing procedures and products into its everyday routine, including:

The conversion to Agfa's :Azura chemistry free printing from traditional plates

The conversion to low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) and petroleum-free inks

The  institution of a reduced energy consumption initiative

The addition of recycling programs that include all waste paper and metal

Keller Crescent has also incorporated recycled and renewable raw materials in its custom packaging and printing solutions. "By implementing procedures that reduce, reuse and recycle on an ongoing basis, we are minimizing our footprint and impact on the environment," explained Bill Mitchell, CEO of Keller Crescent. "We are honored that Agfa recognizes our efforts and we look forward to continuing to implement innovative policies to extend our current efforts as an environmentally-sensitive print and packaging provider."

To date, Agfa has recognized 100 printers from Canada and the U.S. for their green printing efforts and other initiatives to reduce waste, conserve energy or save natural resources. To qualify for Agfa's GreenWorks program, print service providers must use either Agfa Graphics' :Azura chemistry-free CtP plates or :Amigo low-chemistry CtP plates.

Additionally, these companies must promote cleaner and more efficient printing practices, use other environmentally-friendly products and be involved in other eco-friendly efforts such as recycling, waste reduction programs, or use of alternative energy sources in their plants. Agfa provides GreenWorks members with marketing and support materials to be used to promote their green efforts on their websites, in direct mail campaigns or other advertising opportunities.

The GreenWorks winners are listed on  Graphic Design USA magazine's website (www.gdusa.com) with their logo and company description. The site also has a search feature that makes it easier for print buyers to locate GreenWorks winners by geographic location or zip code.
