FOSTER CITY, Calif.--Nov. 12, 2002--Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in software and hardware imaging solutions for network printing, today announced the availability of the Fiery Pi6500e embedded controller for Minolta's new DiALTA Di551 and Di650 high-volume, black-and-white digital printer/copier. The Fiery Pi6500e, featuring Fiery X3e(TM) technology, delivers outstanding speed and performance to Minolta's Di551 and Di650 engines, giving users a powerful all-in-one print, scan, and job management solution.
The EFI designed controller and proprietary chipset are licensed to Minolta, enabling them to offer Fiery performance at a lower overall cost. The Fiery Pi6500e features the latest versions of EFI's leading productivity-enhancing tools for centralized print job management and seamless network connectivity.

The Fiery Pi6500e comes standard with Fiery NetWise(TM) for seamless connectivity to all popular network platforms and offers PCL6 support. Optional for the Fiery Pi6500e is Adobe PostScript 3 and a variety of workflow enhancement and management software features such as:
* Scan-to-FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and Scan-to-email support for transferring a document directly to an FTP server or sending scanned images as email attachments.
* Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) support to give end-users the ability to print to a remote printer via the Internet as easily as if it were connected to the company's local area network.
* Fiery WebTools(TM) to make job management simple from any Java-enabled web browser -- an ideal in-house printing solution for corporate Intranets.

The Di551's advanced job handling capabilities let users manage up to 30 jobs at once with job memory and recall, reserve, programming and status information at their fingertips. In addition, the Di551 is fast, at 55 ppm -- and double fast, at 110 copies per minute, when two Di551s are connected together in a tandem copy configuration.
