Heidelberg Offers new Digimaster 9110m Print System for Digital MICR Printing

Press release from the issuing company

New print system provides unique flexibility of switching between MICR and non-MICR printing ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A new Digimaster print system from Heidelberg provides data centers and transactional printing environments the ability to print checks and other secure office documents, along with the proven image quality and reliability of the Digimaster product family. Announced today by Heidelberg, the Digimaster 9110m Network Imaging System features magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) toner and special fonts and characters for a variety of applications, including printing checks, rebates, coupons and other financial documents. The Digimaster 9110m system enables digital MICR printing of documents at the full-engine speed of 110 images per minute, with all the programmability of integrated finishing options found on the Digimaster 9110 machine. For example, customers can use the Digimaster 9110m system to produce jobs with MICR checks included in stapled booklets along with preprinted material — all done inline automatically. Indeed, the new print system delivers all the benefits of the Digimaster 9110 machine, along with MICR printing capability. It is engineered for the added security that MICR output demands. - The ability to switch toner stations enables operators to use standard toner when MICR is not required. - MICR fonts are automatically disabled when the MICR toning station is removed. - Users can employ a restricted-secure mode setting to control use of the MICR toner within their business. - Toner bottles and toning stations are keyed to prevent inadvertent use of the wrong toner. - The machine allows multiple applications and job streams on the same engine. "Our new Digimaster 9110m Network Imaging System offers a powerful value proposition for customers in the transactional printing and data center market," said Wolfgang Pfizenmaier, president of Heidelberg’s Digital Solution Center. "It raises the bar for on-demand MICR printing by delivering the superior image quality and productivity of our popular Digimaster 9110 print system, and it provides unmatched flexibility to produce non-MICR jobs simply by switching the toner station." The Digimaster 9110m machine bolsters the Digimaster product family for digital monochrome printing. Heidelberg has offered the Digimaster 9110 system for high-volume print production since 1999. Last month, the company announced the 150-image-per-minute Digimaster 9150i machine and the specialized Digimaster 9110 for the Japan market. Like the other Digimaster products, the Digimaster 9110m system provides a short, straight paper path for superior paper handling and a resolution of 600x600 dpi. It also can be configured with a range of hardware and software accessories, including Imagedirect 665 scanner, ImageSmart software, roll feeders, post-process inserter, booklet maker, perfect binder and stacker. Heidelberg’s Digital Solution Center developed the new printing system, and will make it available in North America, in English language only, beginning in November.
