CGS and Staedtler Form Inkjet Alliance

Press release from the issuing company

Inkjet proofing developer will take over Staedtler’s U.S. sales operations in 2003 Minneapolis, MN (October 29, 2002) -- CGS Publishing Technologies International, LLC, and Staedtler, Inc., have reached a strategic agreement on the distribution of Staedtler’s award-winning inkjet products in the U.S. Starting immediately, CGS will sell Staedtler inks directly -- first to its own proofing customers, and to all Staedtler’s U.S. customers by year’s end. The agreement will open new business opportunities in the U.S. market, as well as guarantee CGS’ proofing customers a source of reliable inks, according to CEO Trevor Haworth. In 2003, CGS will assume full control of Staedtler’s U.S. sales operations for all inkjet products, and will obtain ink directly from Staedtler’s manufacturing facilities in Germany. The company will also recommend and sell CGS-qualified inks from other sources, including Epson, Hewlett-Packard and Canon. CGS’ color-managed proofing system, ORIS Color Tuner, uses industry-specific papers and prepress-qualified inks to create reliable, contract quality proofs on a growing number of large format inkjet printers. The system directly supports output devices from Canon, Epson and Hewlett-Packard and is widely used by advertisers, publishers, color trade shops and printers. ORIS Color Tuner was the first inkjet proofing system of its kind to receive SWOP certification, in February 2002.
