EFI Launches Advanced CTP Prepress Workflow System

Press release from the issuing company

Velocity OneFlow Unveiled at Graph Expo 2002 CHICAGO--Oct. 4, 2002--Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in software and hardware imaging solutions for network printing, today introduced Velocity OneFlow(TM), a comprehensive, PDF-based prepress workflow system for small and mid-size print shops. Velocity OneFlow brings together EFI's acclaimed Fiery interface and most advanced color management with complete prepress capabilities to provide custom workflow automation for both offset and digital printing environments. The solution will be on display at the Graph Expo show next week in Chicago, October 6-9, in the EFI and Presstek, Inc. booths. "We are pleased to address the needs of the offset printing market by offering EFI's industry-leading imaging and workflow applications to the prepress arena," said Ghilad Dziesietnik, vice president, Advanced Workflow and Core Software Technologies, EFI. "Velocity OneFlow's full range of advanced capabilities along with its intuitive, familiar Fiery interface will enable all levels of users to master the prepress management process. We're delighted that Presstek is joining us in showcasing this technology at Graph Expo." EFI's Fiery technology and workflow capabilities are the standard for everyday short run color, proofing, variable data and other digital printing needs. Building on the success of Fiery, Velocity OneFlow extends this familiarity to traditional offset environments. Through one intuitive user interface and color management system, Velocity OneFlow allows centralized job and device management to deliver accurate color, improve overall document quality, reduce turnaround time, and increase productivity and efficiency. The solution features EFI's precision ColorWise ICC-based color management system and includes advanced tools for preflighting, imposition, trapping and soft proofing. Users can output files to multiple devices, including platesetters, imagesetters, direct imaging presses, production digital color/B&W copiers, and wide format laser and inkjet printers. It is a unique and affordable solution for medium-sized commercial printers, in-plants and trade shop environments. Key Features: * Precision Color -- Fiery ColorWise for automatic PANTONE matching and transparent handling of RGB, CMYK, Lab and spot color data, even when mixed on the same page * Trapping -- easy to use tool for trapping PDF documents before they are RIPped, and setting trapping parameters for both line art and vector elements * Soft and Ink-Jet Proofing -- advanced capabilities set new industry standards for speed, flexibility and quality by allowing users to view rastor files as screens, dot shapes, traps, moire, and more * OneFlow RIP -- a ROOM (RIP Once Output Many) architecture allows users to RIP a file only once and use the same file for proofing and platesetting, ensuring consistent, accurate results * AM Screening -- unique dot shape and slope adjustment algorithms enable delivery of professional, high quality color prints Ranked Among Top Three in Industry Competition A beta version of Velocity OneFlow received high marks in Seybold Publication's recent "PDF Workflow Shootout," a comprehensive evaluation of how well different PDF workflow applications handled a set of challenging files in a print production environment. Velocity OneFlow earned a strong 93 out of a possible 100 points. According to the report, "EFI was easily one of the highest scoring Phase 2 participants, consistently performing well in all areas." Velocity OneFlow at Graph Expo OneFlow will be featured in EFI's booth #4853 at Graph Expo connected to a Presstek Dimension400(TM) platesetter. OneFlow will also be demonstrated in Presstek's booth #4857. Presstek is a leading provider of direct digital imaging technology. The Graph Expo show takes place in Chicago at McCormick Place, October 6-9, 2002. Availability Beta testing of Velocity OneFlow begins in October at a number of leading digital printing test sites, including Sir Speedy and Insty-Prints, where both 4 color offset and digital printing services are being offered. Velocity OneFlow will be available in Q1 2003.
