Press release from the issuing company
New SkinnyServer produces open non-proprietary files for PDF production workflows
Montreal, Canada, October 2, 2002 – Design and print workflow developer Ultimate Technographics, www.ultimate-tech.com, today announces the commercial release of SkinnyServer 2.0. SkinnyServer addresses three major prepress industry problems, dramatically reducing the size of EPS image files for page layout, (with bundled SkinnyEPS plug-in), simplifying PDF creation and automating the production of PDF files.
New SkinnyServer 2.0 features include:
*All SkinnyEPS and SkinnyServer output files are 100% non-proprietary and work with any applications that can import or edit EPS and PDF files
*Upgraded SkinnyEPS Adobe Photoshop Plug-in supports OS X, produces higher quality image files and also works in batch mode.
*SkinnyServer can be published as printer on the network or can be driven by hot folders.
*Four output options
-Skinny PDF on average 15X smaller than non compressed Acrobat print production PDFs, and 20X smaller than PostScript prepress files
*Multiple output options from one queue or hot folder
*New lower price of $3,995.00 (from $4,995.00)
*Unlimited users, for the most cost effective PDF server in the market.
Robert Dumas, Director of Product Management says: “Our customers quickly embraced the SkinnyServer and were amazed by the size and the quality of the PDF files they created. SkinnyServer 2.0 is the easiest way to create the industries smallest print production PDF files that can be used with ANY PDF workflows now that Skinny PDF files are open.” he continues “many of our customers now routinely email 8-page signatures from one production workstation to another – something that would be impossible with PostScript files because of the size, reducing prepress files by around 20X their old size is literally changing how people work collaboratively in prepress production.”
SkinnyServer 2.0 is now shipping for Windows (NT, 2000, XP)
SkinnyServer 2.0 OS X is expected to ship January 2003
SkinnyServer 2.0 is bundled with a 5 pack of SkinnyEPS Photoshop Plug-ins
