Xitron Announces FirstPROOF and MediaSaving Bundled with the Navigator RIP

Press release from the issuing company

Providing a ROAM client and film saving tools. Ann Arbor, Michigan September 27, 2002 --Xitron, an independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, announced today that it will include FirstPROOF from Hamillroad Software and MediaSaving with all new sales of the retail version of their Navigator Harlequin RIP. Xitron is the only Harlequin OEM licensed to distribute FirstPROOF. Hamillroad’s FirstPROOF, a unique application now available from Xitron, allows users to preview or "roam" a raster file without halting the RIP from outputting. FirstPROOF has Windows and Macintosh clients for users to preview RIPped files from clients on the network. Furthermore, FirstPROOF provides tools to zoom in and out making it easier preview jobs. In addition, it accurately displays CMYK and spot color overprints. Finally, FirstPROOF can divert RIPped pages from outputting in order to facilitate softproofing prior to output. Xitron will include one copy of FirstPROOF to be run on the RIP station with each new Navigator RIP. Additional licenses for previewing on the remote client stations are available from Xitron for $340 per seat and can be ordered directly from the Xitron website www.xitron.com Xitron offers FirstPROOF to run on any Harlequin (version 5.5 or higher) RIP making it possible for all Harlequin RIP users to preview RIPped files without halting the RIP. Xitron will also include with new RIP sales the MediaSaving Global Graphics Harlequin plugin designed to gang multiple incoming jobs onto one flat to save film or proofing media. MediaSaving will fill the width of the media with a single row of Harlequin PageBuffers (RIPped files). MediaSaving can be configured with simple setup tools to keep colors or pages together or allow them to be rearranged. Furthermore, by stacking jobs for output, total imaging time is reduced saving not only media, but also valuable imaging time. Xitron expects to start shipping the Navigator/FirstPROOF/MediaSaving bundles and FirstPROOF for the NT version on October 10th, 2002 and the Macintosh version in January 2003. "Remote preview and zoom are the two most frequently requested features in the Harlequin RIP," explains R. Patrick French, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Xitron. "We are thrilled to have this unique offering for all Harlequin RIP customers." And he continues, "MediaSaving is a very useful tool that will help our customers save money and meet their deadlines. By adding these enhancements to our Navigator Harlequin RIP we once again prove our commitment to respond to our customer‚s requests and provide the tools necessary to improve efficiency.
