Gartner Dataquest Says Canon is Number One in Copier Market

Expands #1 Leadership Ranking in Black-and-White Copiers; Leads Analyst Firm Ranking In Analog And Digital Categories LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.--Sept. 23, 2002--Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. and a leader in imaging solutions, has expanded its #1 leadership position in the analog and digital plain paper black-and-white copier market. During the first half of 2002, according to Gartner Dataquest, a unit of Gartner Inc. and one of the world's leading research and advisory firms, Canon ranked #1, with 35.3 percent of the market, for total analog and digital copiers sold. According to Dataquest, for combined analog and digital shipments of plain paper copiers in the U.S., Canon's delivery of 286,854 units is more than twice the number sold by its nearest competitor. In digital units, Canon shipped 143,309 units to achieve the top ranking. Canon U.S.A., Inc. delivers consumer, business-to-business, and industrial imaging solutions.
