September 3, 2002 -- In a move to further enhance its global operations, sales and service network, Baldwin Technology Company, Inc., international manufacturer of press accessories and controls, today announces the appointment of Karl Puehringer and Martin Buttlar to additional responsibilities within the company. Appointed as vice president of operations in November 2001, Karl Puehringer assumes the additional role of vice president of product management, following the departure of Dr Rolf Enders. Puehringer now takes full responsibility for the global management of Baldwin’s complete range of products across the commercial sheet-fed, web-fed, and newspaper printing markets. Martin Buttlar, recently appointed as vice president global technical service, takes over from Dr Enders as director of the German Sales and Service Unit (SSU) - Baldwin Germany GmbH. Buttlar heads up the Augsburg site which is responsible for sales and service of Baldwin’s full range of commercial sheet-fed, web-fed, and newspaper products in central and eastern Europe, John Heald, president and chief executive officer says: "We are delighted to announce these new appointments which further strengthen the consistency of Baldwin’s global product management whilst also serving the unique needs of individual national territories." Both gentlemen are based at Baldwin Germany in Augsburg and report to John Heald. Karl Puehringer joined Baldwin from A.T. Kearney in Munich, where he was responsible for project management of engagements at the operations consultant. Prior to this, he was president and managing director at Voist-Alpine Indonesia and Voist-Alpine Ice Mexico respectively. In addition, the 36-year-old has a Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering and two Masters degrees – one in technical physics and one in management. "Karl’s vast experience and educational background makes him a valuable member of the Baldwin global team," adds John Heald. "And we’re confident that his excellent international experience and strong analytical skills will more than meet the high demands of his new role." In his role as vice president global technical service, which he took up last month, Martin Buttlar is responsible for defining, implementing and managing the global strategies of Baldwin’s technical service department. "There is no doubt that Martin’s rich experience within the printing industry allows him to maintain, and indeed exceed, the high level of customer and OEM satisfaction that Baldwin is renowned for," says John Heald. Mr Buttlar comes to Baldwin with over 20 years experience in the international printing industry, most recently with MAN Roland in the USA as vice president sheet-fed parts and service. During his 12 years with MAN Roland, Mr Buttlar has held key positions in project management and parts and service around the world. He began his career in printing with Wanfried Druck Kalden, Germany, as a print apprentice and pressman.
