International Publishing Management Association Awards Credentials

Press release from the issuing company

Liberty, Missouri - August 22, 2002 - Craig Reeves, C.A.M., CM, CGCM, was recently awarded the designation of Certified Mail Manager (CMM) from the International Publishing Management Association (IPMA). He is the Support Services Manager for EMC Insurance Company in Des Moines, IA. Actively involved in mail management since 1976, Reeves joined IPMA’s Des Moines Chapter in 1979. "The sense of accomplishment in having both the Certified Graphic Communications Manager (CGCM) and the Certified Mail Manager (CMM) designation can be attributed to the certification program that IPMA’s Certification Chairperson Domenic Vallone has worked hard at, and the motivation he provides," explains Reeves. "I recommend that others should give the exam a try." Diane Curtis, manager of the Printing and Mail Center at Anderson University in Indiana, was also recently awarded the designation of Certified Mail Manager (CMM) from the International Publishing Management Association (IPMA). A member of IPMA since 1992, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Anderson University. Curtis believes, "It is important to demonstrate to fellow workers and executives in the workplace that the mailroom is not just a starting platform and that careers can be made here. Knowledge is key in this area, not only for cost savings (which can be substantial), but for proper preparation so mail is delivered when needed. I am honored to have my knowledge and experience rewarded by holding a CMM certificate." The CMM program, established by IPMA in 1992, encourages professional growth and emphasizes the knowledge and technical expertise required to excel in the rapidly-advancing field of corporate mail management. It also serves to identify a select group of managers within the industry who have attained a recognizable level of competence. Mail professionals can attain this mark of distinction by successfully completing a comprehensive examination, in addition to demonstrating management experience and professionalism. Lyle Miller recently attained the credential of Certified Graphic Communications Manager (CGCM) from the International Publishing Management Association (IPMA). He is the director of Printing and Mailing Services at Goshen College in Indiana. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Goshen College and has completed additional study at the University of Iowa. An IPMA member for the past two years, he has been involved with in-house printing and mail management since 1997. Miller shares, "Often we in the industry learn on the fly and don’t have the opportunity to think about the whys of doing things in a certain way. Studying for the test was a way to formalize and refresh my knowledge base. Being in the educational segment of the industry, where further study is valued greatly, pursuing certification demonstrated even more fully that I am committed to doing all that I can to help Goshen College fulfill its mission." IPMA’s CGCM program, instituted in 1976, encourages professional growth and emphasizes the knowledge and technical expertise required to excel in the rapidly advancing field of corporate publishing. It also serves to identify a select group of managers within the industry who have attained a recognizable level of competence. Tests are administered at IPMA’s annual conference and upon special arrangement with IPMA headquarters.
