Cobalt-8 Violet CTP System Hums at Commercial Communications Inc.

Press release from the issuing company

36,000 Sq. ft. of plates imaged in eight weeks - Montreal, Canada - August 16th, 2002 - The Cobalt-8 violet CTP system recently installed at Commercial Communications, Inc. in Hartland, WI is proving to be the workhorse of the prepress department, imaging 36,000 SqFt of plate to produce more than 4000 40-inch plates in just eight weeks. The Cobalt-8 was installed at CCI in May and was up and running within a few days. CCI already had a Prinergy workflow system from Heidelberg driving their prepress department and did not want to reinvest in anything new. Designed to integrate into any prepress workflow, the Cobalt-8 slipped seamlessly into CCI's existing prepress workflow without issue. "We can image an 8-up plate 3 times as fast with this machine," said Peter Sweers, Prepress Manager at Commercial Communications Inc. "The Cobalt-8 has delivered on its promise of speed, quality and reliability and fits into our Prinergy workflow." The Cobalt-8 is designed to meet the real-world platesetting requirements of printing operations. Cobalt-8's reliability is built-in with only two moving parts and the simple plate loading procedure is faster and more dependable than automated loading systems, allowing users to immediately change plate size and thickness between jobs without the limitations of automated plate cassettes. Unlike thermal systems, the Cobalt-8 will image faster at lower dpi's (i.e. twice as fast at 1200 dpi than at 2400 dpi) so productivity can be tuned to the type of presswork required ensuring maximum throughput. "With a fifteen second load time, the Cobalt-8 is the fastest platesetter in its class," said Keith Fisher, Director of Business Development for Escher-Grad Technologies. "CCI is demonstrating that fact every day by producing more plates in one day than most printers use in a week! It's very exciting to see how a manual, reliable and easy-to-use system like the Cobalt-8 can consistently out-perform its fully automated and costlier rivals. Hats off to CCI! We're proud to be a part of their continued growth."
