Agfa Ships Apogee Series3 and Renews Contract With Enfocus
Press release from the issuing company
Ghent, Belgium - 25 March 2002 - Enfocus Software today announced the renewal of its contract with Agfa to include Enfocus technology into Agfa's Apogee Workflow solutions. The agreement paves the way for the integration of the Enfocus Certified PDF technology within the world's leading PDF-based digital workflow solution. This technology partnership enables Apogee users to include comprehensive PDF preflighting tools together with the unprecedented reliability and predictability resulting from Enfocus' Certified PDF technology.
Peter Camps, Enfocus CEO, is delighted with the renewed recognition of the Certified PDF technology: "We are extremely pleased with the extension of our partnership. Agfa is an early adopter of Enfocus technology, having embraced Enfocus' preflighting and editing features right from the start into its own pre-press workflow solution. We feel privileged to be able to work together with one of the world leading companies in PDF based workflow solutions."
Johan Berlaen, General Manager Digital Solutions at Agfa supports the renewal of the contract completely: "The combination of Apogee Series3 with Enfocus Certified PDF is clearly a winning combination. Apogee users can further count on a secure PDF document exchange whereby the integration of Enfocus Certified PDF is offering unprecedented reliability and predictability in Digital File Exchange."
Apogee Series3: Automate, Integrate and Distribute
Apogee Series3 expands the capabilities of the award-winning Apogee solution even further. This digital workflow offers automation, control, openness, scalability, and ease of use. It brings new efficiency to the entire operation and helps streamline the flow of jobs-saving time and reducing costs.
Apogee Series3 is a JDF-compliant solution that meets the strict standards for the emerging Job Definition Format established by the CIP4 consortium. JDF is a complete, powerful standard that promises to expand automation in the entire process of creating printed materials-from estimating jobs through to printing and finishing. Thanks to Agfa's leadership role in the creation of the JDF standard, Apogee Series3 is one of the first workflow solutions to be JDF-compliant. By addressing the full workflow-not just prepress and printing-Apogee Series3 maximises every opportunity for more streamlined production. It's an open solution that eliminates barriers between various groups and offers a high level of automation.
Closed-loop PDF certification
Using Agfa's own innovative technology, Apogee Series3 guarantees that PDFs are created, predictably, by capturing all design elements within the source document. To qualify the created PDFs, or PDFs that come from external sources, Agfa has integrated Enfocus Certified PDF technology into its workflow solution to help verify that PDFs are production-ready, reliable, and able to be processed as intended. The system will automatically correct the PDFs if required. For maximum reliability, Apogee Series3 is able to exchange PDF creation set-up files, preflight profiles, and action lists with remote users who want to create reliable PDFs themselves. In order to minimise the risk on errors and responsibility, Enfocus' latest Certified PDF technology enables everyone in the production chain to track by whom and with which Preflight Profile PDFs were preflighted and the changes that were made. All of this information is carefully logged and saved within the PDF file.
Over the years Enfocus has developed a strong credibility as the provider of essential PDF tools. Enfocus products have received numerous industry awards, and draw unanimous praise from users and within the press. Enfocus core technologies, Certified PDF and PDF Profile are recognised as important contributions to the Graphics industry. Certified PDF turns any PDF document into a "self-aware" file, and PDF Profile provides the world's most complete PDF creation, preflight and correction settings.
