Datacolor Announces New European ColorVision Operation

Press release from the issuing company

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (March 18, 2002) Datacolor today announced that it is creating a European ColorVision operation. Since its inception in 2000, ColorVision has emerged as the industry leader for high quality, affordable products for digital color control. The division has established a significant presence and sales history in North America while recruiting over 30 European dealers. The goal of the new operation is to provide an even higher level of service and responsiveness to ColorVision's European customers and network of valued resellers. ColorVision manufactures and sells award-winning products for digital color control to professional and amateur photographers, graphic designers, and prepress operations. These products, which are marketed under the PANTONE COLORVISION brand, include the acclaimed Spyder for accurate color calibration of LCD and CRT monitors and ProfilerPLUS, an Adobe Photoshop plug-in, for calibrating ink jet printers. The new operation will take advantage of Datacolor's extensive infrastructure and long history of service to color-critical corporations and professionals throughout Europe. The new ColorVision division will be headquartered in Datacolor's central European facility in Dietlikon, Switzerland. A European ColorVision web site is in development with a planned roll-out in April 2002. In addition, localized versions of ColorVision software and manuals into major European languages will be released throughout the course of the year. "We know that there is strong demand for our products in Europe," stated Brian Levey, Vice President of ColorVision. "Our European resellers have done an outstanding job in creating sales and awareness of our products in the last 18 months. By creating a local support hub for their efforts, we believe that we can significantly improve overall customer service and accelerate sales. Localization of our software and content portfolio is a key tactic in this plan." Gamper is a young veteran of the European internet and software industry, and was most recently employed as the managing director of Koch Media srl (Merano/Milano, BZ). Prior to this position, Mr. Gamper was the founder and managing director of the Italian branch of kdg mediatech AG, a major player in the CD/DVD Duplication Business with 5 plants in Europe. Koch Media is one of the leaders in the German software market and ranks among the top ten consumer software companies in Europe. Mr. Gamper brings an outstanding knowledge of the European prosumer and consumer distribution channels to ColorVision and has a very good understanding of what creative professionals need from their digital darkrooms.
