Graphic Services Finishes Installation of the Akiyama J- Print

Press release from the issuing company

March 12, 2002 -- Graphic Services, located in Rockland Massachusetts has been a leading supplier to the Educational Publishing Industry for 12 years. Last summer they completed the acquisition of InterCity Press of Rockland Massachusetts. It gave them exposure and over 20 years of expertise in the Financial and General Commercial markets. Coupled with the Educational Publishing experience, it made Graphic Services a solid supplier in all industry segments. According to the company, their position in the market place increased and so did demand. Their customers challenged Graphic Services to find better and more effective ways to produce short to medium run color work. The company investigated many of the "perfecting" presses in the market and found that the Akiyama J-Print was the best solution for them. With this new press, Graphic Services can print up to 5-colors on both sides of the sheet at the same time in one pass. Additionally, the sheet never "turns" in the run, so in effect, it prints like a web. Bradley J Koch of Graphic Services says the make ready times are incredible as is the quality from front to back. “There is an incredible market for this piece of equipment. It extends the economical run length of a conventional sheet fed press and helps close the gap to certain web printing. Companies that have typically published large run web catalogs and books are showing great interest in reducing their quantities and this piece of equipment fits perfectly.”
